still trying to figure out the meaning of eye brow holding.

right vs left.

notice, this is about "right" and "left" from the perspective of the person who is attached to those brows.

possibilities:

- thinking vs feeling (in dom or auxiliary position). my preferred hypothesis.

- E vs I , S vs N .... erm, of course there could be other possibilities, i guess .... but none that i consider as convincing, after considering everything else that i think i know about who is what type and has what cues.

to be clear: we talk about a holding attitude, that can be evoked consciously, even though it is frequently displayed without premeditation.

we are not talking about a short automatic flare that happens rarely and only automatically. this flare is happening on the opposite side.

to hold the opposite side at all, intentionally, would require extreme effort and trickery, like turning your head in unusual manner. it might seem impossible.

the display of attitude in the attitude-holding brow is usually one of elevation but notice, that the attitude-holding brow can sometimes be lowered in isolation, leaving the more relaxed alternate-brow to appear elevated.

many individuals make very frequent use of brow holding.
in a few individuals it's rarely noticeable.

I can raise my right eyebrow in isolation (as prominently as Nemoy) and control the height and speed of the raise. I also just discovered that I can consciously hold it up for over 3 minutes. My left eyebrow, however, is an idiot who cannot handle independence. It brings shame to my face.

Edit: I'm assuming of course that it is perfectly normal to consciously do all sorts of things with both eyebrows in unison. It's not really something I've ever looked into.

Substantial command over the left eyebrow, while I can't move the right one separately for the life of me, I can also move my left earlobe up and down slightly.

I can do both. But the left is a lot easier.

If you look at people who do that with their eyebrows, it seems like one eye is open and accepting of information, while the other one is more closed and critical.

Kinda like a dual paradigm happening there. :P

How funny...I've been speculating over this too. This is because I seemed to be always straining one side of the face more than the other, i.e; I would find either one or the other brow lifting up more than the other. I also started thinking about left vs. right brain activity, etc. I seemed to be raising the left eyebrow more for quite some time (I started observing which side), and then suddenly I was doing it to my right brow. I have no idea what this means though...:D

I use the whole right side of my face a lot more. IIRC one of the sides is associated with real/inadvertent expression, one with social/intentional expression. I think the right side was the honest side. I read a short bit of analysis on Clinton's face during his 'testimony' regarding Lewinsky, based on this. Not sure how trustworthy though.

I think there's something to the idea that the lift of an eyebrow reflects receptivity and resistance.

Canada, eh?
Substantial command over the left eyebrow.

Haven't studies on this already been done? I mean, I'd assume. With micro-expressions being analyzed in depth and all that, I imagine someone would've theorized on eyebrow movement and its meaning.

^That was like 4 emotions per second. :ahh:

The left but I don't flex it much. My natural state is a passive frown and I'm more likely to raise both brows in amazement / amusement.

I can do the right brow too though if I concentrate, and slightly move my ears.

I burned my eyebrows off in a terrible stage accident involving two gallons of industrial mascara and a coked-up flying pyramid of flaming monkeys.

(don't ask)

How are you today
I used to only be able to move my left, but after great and useless training I have command over both. I can do a fairly good wave also.

Only left or both, it feels frustrating trying to move the right. Slightly ears and I can move my nose.
