57. I've never been a terribly fast typist.

I am curious, though. How many of you super-fast people play piano?

I don't... Always thought about learning though... Wonder if it'll put me at an advantage...

Haha this is true; not so much now though; basically learnt to type this fast when I was a kid (gaming..). Now I'd say I spent a reasonable amount of time on my computer on productive tingz. (...alright, that's sort of a lie..)

You got a problem?! :elephant: (that's me hijacking your butterphant)

Well I spend too much time on the computer too. At least your doing semi-productive things now.

Stealing my butterphant are you....... shit just got serious :beatyou:

Visit the Typing Test and try!

But I'd all kick your ass in dutch.

Oh really? Competitive huh. Reckon I could do it in Dutch (alien language to me) and still beat you. ;)

(in Dutch)

Pretty difficult actually... wow.

About 90 wpm

I used to be faster but now I code so much I'm used to going slower, more accurately and with odd keys and combinations. I can get any symbol without looking.

I also use special ergonomic keyboards with blank keys, and I play the piano

That website is really distracting since it keeps stuttering while I type. It throws me off because I'm not sure if I've hit the key or not. I'll try again later on another PC.

I played a lot of MUDs as a child. Slow typers get eaten by gremlins. I used to be closer to 152 WPM, but I've slowed down since I stopped programming and playing MUDs.

This was done on an IBM Model-M using a loose touch typing technique.

Hmm.. I'm going to try to beat OP.

I'm usually around 90 WPM. I never learned to type "properly", either.

Also: is anyone here using a keyboard layout other than qwerty?

I'm still working out why I'd be slower now, after more than 40 years of practice and a modern electronic keyboard, than I was as a sophomore in high school, where I annoyed the hell out of the future secretaries by putting in the fastest time, 121 or 122 a minute as I recall. That was on an old, beat-up mechanical typewriter that had wobbly knobs, slack in the arms, and a tendency to chitter and dance across the desktop if you typed fast and hard. I should be typing at 150 wpm with this electric keyboard and modern ergonomics.

But I'm not. :=)

Perhaps my thinking has slowed down rather than my fingers....

I played both accordion and piano but gave up both after achieving very modest competency

Is it just me or does this sound like a spambot?

'X is awesome! What do you think? Here, find out more!' *link to horse porn*

No offence meant if you aren't actually a spambot.
