One atom of me
Human minds.
animals have eyes but can't read. neither can illiterate people. i propose that linguistic consciousness allows people to read. the technology that generates this must be the brain - specifically, the part of the brain that is a key learning centre.
Can you read Aramaic?animals have eyes but can't read. neither can illiterate people.
Then anyone who cannot yet read even one language, including Aramaic, Sanskrit, or Chinese, lacks linguistic consciousness.i propose that linguistic consciousness allows people to read.
Then since most humans cannot read at least one language. then most humans lack the technology, and so cannot read any language.the technology that generates this must be the brain - specifically, the part of the brain that is a key learning centre.

Rather, the genetic components only confer the ability to learn how to read a specific language.
You still have to be taught how to read how to read each language, or teach yourself.
Then Illiterate people can read. I've known illiterate people who got taught to read, and learned to read.re: can you read aramaic?
stupid and irrelevant question.
re: then anyone who cannot yet read even one language lacks linguistic consciousness
no, i said linguistic consciousness ALLOWS people to read. ie. IF you are unaware of any language in all its forms, whether spoken or written or musical, THEN you cannot read. which renders the rest of your argument illogical
no, illiterate people can't read. dictionary definition of illiterate: unable to read or write. but they have the potential to leatn to read. dogs lack this potential. dogs also lack linguistic consciousness. illiterate people may not necessarily lack awareness that language existsThen Illiterate people can read. For the same reason, we can't say that animals can't read, because hardly anyone even tries to teach dogs to read.
no, illiterate people can't read.
So illiterate people are unable to speak, read or write ANY language?IF you are unaware of any language in all its forms, whether spoken or written or musical, THEN you cannot read.
all this just tells me that you need to look up the definition of "illiterate"no, illiterate people can't read.

Even the blind can speak at least one language.
Even the deaf speak at least one language.
Even deaf-mutes can read at least one language.
Even the stupidest of people can speak at least one language.
Even the most ignorant of people can speak at least one language.
Even the wolf-boy who grew up without exposure to any human language, spoke the language of the wolves.
What living human does not speak, or read or write or sing ANY language?
So then how can any living human be illiterate?
I know what the word "illiterate" means, to be "unable to read and write".all this just tells me that you need to look up the definition of "illiterate"
