Benji B (experimental, electronica, hip hop, jazz) on BBC Radio 1 has a good mix out this week featuring soundtrack music.

Santy Anno I love sea shanties; they remind me of my beloved surf and salty spray; the toppling blasts of screaming gales and deck-drenching waves; the long, cold, lonely watches beneath the great tapestry of stars that can only be seen where the sky is unpolluted by light; the sense of snug calm in the gentle roll of waves beneath the hull that softly, slowly raise and drop the bow as a cool breeze blows on by.

Consequence, the Notwist one is a great song. I listened to it in the movie Push years ago and I was listening to it the few days after, but since, I had forgotten the title.
Glad I found this back.

Gets my feels moving everytime, not even kidding. Along with the other two. I love the (supposed) meaning behind it (my interpretation or whatever). Beautiful words and rhythm.

I think about all of my past burning loves...melancholic yes, but beautiful as well.

sara crazy child

it's not a tyrannosaurus rex song per se - it's an early marc bolan demo and one of the songs he wrote for his previous (otherwise shitty) band john's children. the compilation album on which it appears offers little else of interest imo. some decent versions of what later became tyrannosaurus rex songs, though.

same line-up as early tyrannosaurus rex (with steve took) but before they recorded albums using that moniker.

Feels Like Home #51: Holy Sons - "Bed of Nails II" on Vimeo

Been listening to that and other holysons tunes quite a bit

And kinda going back to older stuff I used to listen to like the band Death.
For the style imho they have pretty good lyrics, unlike other "heavy" bands.
Check out the record "The Sound of Perseverance"

This ones off "Symbolic"

Heres one off of "Sound of..."

Aaaaand for good measure, I think that Chucks (leader of the band Death) version of "Painkiller" trumps the original Judas Priest version. Dig it.

And here's one more for those of you into jazz. The great Bill Evans. Man, I play this tune solo guitar but its just such a beautiful tune with so many options for chord addition/harmonization

Leonard Cohen - The Captain

"I'm on the side that's always lost
Against the side of Heaven
I'm on the side of Snake-eyes tossed
Against the side of Seven.
And I've read the Bill of Human Rights
And some of it was true
But there wasn't any burden left
So I'm laying it on you."

such lyrics
