I often think of this song as perfect anthem of meaningless internal monologues.

Its a fairly smart song, describing some societal problems as themes that continuously describe a slightly different issue in each verse.

Originally I too assumed this is antiwar song, though the real backstory from wikipedia is so much more interesting, but not that surprising.
It marks precursory counter culture events.

Its fairly melodic song, with soft sound of singer, that sounds too relaxed compared to what it is describing, creating a interesting contrast between melody, singing and message.

Boiled Peanuts Recipe:
