dough lisle is an evolutionary psychologist. he answers listeners questions about situations in life from this point of view. he wrote a book: the pleasure trap - explaining why people are addicted to fattening foods and how they can deal with it.

i dont always agree with evolutionary psychology completely. its not entirely integral at all. its reductionist. for example he likes to insist that narcicists are essentially "just" big five "disagreeable" types, by birth, which is correct, but just skips the whole drama of how a stupid person ends up in a contrieved fantasy world of self-righteous lies. nevertheless, evolutionary psychology adds a ton of sobriety to counteract escapist desires for the impossible. knowing what you can change and cant be changed is simultaneously empowering and pacifying.

I've been imbued with this mentality at a young age, it's an intuitive concept for me. I have a high degree of self-awareness so I'm always refactoring myself.

I'm guessing he talks about addiction to saturated fats due to a paleo diet being devoid of certain nutrition? Same applies to sugar, the balance of Omega3/Omega 6. Evolutionary psychological certainly has more merits that psychology in the contemporary period since it touches on carnal, primal and relatively eternal behaviours.
