These tests are just attempts at aiming shotguns to mark the manifestation of your current conscious archetypes. They just point you in the right direction, and it is your job to find out how far off the mark they really are. Horoscopes are somewhat different because they are determined merely by your birth sign, leaving the rest of the New Age amateurism to be based upon questions about your actual inner nature. The questions might be less significant in some and more significant in others, but they are at least asking you the questions. I completely agree with you about the environmental effect on our self-image, but our self-image remains our self-image until our self-image changes. Seekers want to collect puzzle after puzzle, visionaries want to collect answer after answer, and prophets want to make prediction after prediction. They are not at all the same in their archetypal form. Understanding your own manifestation of your own archetype just allows you to see how and why their manifestations operate as they do so as to make you more self-aware.
