I am INTP and almost always I feel tired. I ISTP are quite in physical and latly I hear Eminen (ISTP) said "my adrenaline caged Full of venom and rage" What do you guys do to increase your senses/physical energy to be closer to ISTP so you wouldn`t just physically zone out? I got coffee pills which make me concentrate but it is not not exactly what I want. Do you drink coffee or some safe stimulants?

Hi. First post.

If you feel tired make sure you are recharging by getting some alone time. Its a must for INTPs or any introvert. Are you socialising too much? Social activity will drain an introvert. I even get wiped out talking to my mother over the phone or playing 'barbies' with my daughters! ("I play Ken, only Ken"! - search google for 'dad's who play barbies' !). My work place is more female orientated now which means more chatting! - I have been noticing I am getting tired at work earlier now so I retreat to quiet corner once they start.

I Identify with the 'highly sensitive person' trait that recomends to forgo caffeine. I need one coffee in the morning though.

To concentrate i recommended deep breathing exercises and harmonious or quiet environments for introverts. Find your self a quiet spot.

For physical stimulation I really enjoy doing physical things. Turned down offer for an admin job at work so i can continue to do my physical work. My second job is in a supermarket but love the physical side of it.

I don't play team sports and find individual ways of keeping fit. Just me on my own. I run two times a week, pilates (watch you tube - not going to a class!) once a week, some yoga, some weights work and finally general stretching.

So I don't over do it, just try and do something different each day otherwise i would get bored. Means i haven't mastered any of them. I don't run against my best times, just run for a long as I have time for. Don't have a strict regime otherwise would get annoyed if I missed a session.

I like pilates for its focus on breathing. I plan certain times in the day to practice deep belly breathing.

All of them give me alone time and mentally relax me. I have to do these at night when my brain is normally most active. These exercises all put my brain into focus onto breathing otherwise at night i stay awake as my brain thinks and ponders constantly.

So really anything that allows my INTP self to concentrate on something other than worries and gives me alone time. Best of all it doesn't cost a thing except some running shoes.

I think if you all try this you will feel more relaxed, confident and have achieved something. The only tv i watch is one episode of a netflix series once a week!

Regards
Andy

I don't think caffeine would work for that purpose... isn't caffeine a quick boost of jittery energy that leaves you tired afterwards? I wouldn't expect much overall increase in energy.

I try to just like, walk to places.

Exercise, sleep, and healthy diet keep you alert and stable. We're no different than any other humans in this regard. Once those are under control, you need to feel like you're connected with something greater than yourself. This is stated vaguely because what that means differs drastically between humans. It might be religion, nature, community service, family, culture, acquisition of knowledge, invention, etc.

Anything that makes life worth living to you, will keep you stimulated. It's just that you need to get mentally and physically healthy first, so you can know you're seeing things clearly.

Minimizing the physical to the bare necessity works for me. Which is taking the most minimally optimal care of my body I can in diet, exercise and mental mind/body (meditation), so that my physical nature is the least bothersome. Bring the physical part of my life closer to an ISTP? Why would I want to do that, or would any INTP?

One ISTP I know is on the ski slopes every time the snow is good (e.g. most winter weekends). Another lifts lots of weights and watches the sports teams. Another plays basketball on the weekends. This is something to strive for?

I could see myself obsessing over skiing for half a season or so, if I was independently wealthy. Same with other individual sporty things. I advanced pretty far in Tai Chi in a spurt of interest. Another period had me fascinated with bellydancing and arab/spanish music (it's incredible exercise) I've thought about parkour a few times, but I'm too old and clumsy to really give it a go. (I might just try anyway if I find enough time on my hands).

I think the key is to find something fun/interesting. Finding the energy to be physically active requires good sleep and healthy food intake. However once you become physically active, you find a well of energy you never knew you had. It takes a wee bit of discipline at first, but it pays off.

When I go too long without a physical hobby, my mind becomes sluggish. Apathy and malaise seeps in, and intellectual pursuits fall away. Nothing is fun/interesting anymore, and I start to get lost in stupid shit like computer games as an escape from my dreary daily routine.

You'll never be full of passion and rage. You may never want to run a marathon, but this physical maintenance gives you the resources you need to fuel whatever pursuits you find interesting.

I've skied a total of three days in my life. First day was on the bunny hill; I got hooked and pushed at it. Day two I mastered the bunny and went on to beginner slopes. Day three I made it to the harder slopes. At the end of day three it was getting dark and I was racing down some slope by some trees. Dark, tall tree trunks hard as iron; I thought to myself "this is asinine". At the bottom of the hill turned in my gear and never touched it again.

Same with other individual sporty things. I advanced pretty far in Tai Chi in a spurt of interest.

Got as far as class 4 in Tai Chi, and managed 4 months of Tai Kwon Do.

When I go too long without a physical hobby, my mind becomes sluggish.

Like I say I just optimize to maximize my mental energy. I do 25 minutes every day of intensive combination stationary cycling and weight lifting. Works wonders and keeps me in shape, combined with a strict diet my physical body doesn't intrude on the party.

It appears that I misunderstood, taking your original statement to imply that physical pursuits are pointless. Sorry about that.

Yeah, for 99% of people maybe more even there will be a sport or physical activity you enjoy, the issue is finding it since people focus on what's popular. In fact that applies to a lot of things people broadly say they don't like.

I enjoy surfing and a bit of skateboarding. Although I am intermediate level in the former, I can never hang with the STPs.
