What is your easiest method of learning?

For me I find that watching videos with a very engaging narrative with very detailed pictures and diagrams works the best. And if I get to utilize what I just learned hands on im golden. This is much more effective than just reading pages and pages of theory, I can with enough effort but its definitely not ideal for me.

But I find that If I had to explain what I just learned with my preferred method I have A very very hard time putting it into words.

Reading is definitely my preferred method of learning about theoretical concepts. I also prefer technical writing that is fairly straight-forward. Too many literary flourishes can become confusing and distract from the concept being described.

Observation of real-world scenarios is definitely a plus when learning about new concepts. Sometimes the full meaning of a theory doesn't congeal until I can observe the phenomenon being speculated about.

I'm an auditory learner. I learn the most by going to lectures and asking questions in class. I read texts, but have a hard time concentrating as there are too many other distractions. Lecturing keeps me focused because the voice of the lecturer is a fixation point and thus easier to concentrate on. I'm one of those people who send death stares at people who chat to each other during lectures.

I find I can only convey what I have learnt if I have a thorough understanding of a subject; this means I would have gone beyond what I have learnt superficially by researching in depth after being introduced to a concept or theory. I think this has to do with not wanting to explain something to others unless I'm 98% confident that the information I relay is accurate. Anything else gives me great anxiety. This is why I detest being queried if I don't have enough background information; I set my own standards pretty high.

I imagine everyone finds being spoon fed easier than working through difficult text or equations to grok something. The problem with relying on videos with engaging narrative is that tend to be simplifications. They are sometimes good for presenting the big picture, but if you want to go beyond that you have to be able to create your own mental videos and your own engaging narrative after having slogged through the dense intellectual swamp of technical prose and math.

Practice makes perfect. Read more and you will find it becomes easier and far more satisfying than accepting someone else's regurgitated understanding. (what did you think was in that spoon?)

I am a reader. I read extremely fast and I can always go back to refer to typical points. I also have a visual/photographic memory so its easier. There are three types of learning. Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic/tactile learning. I would think most INTPs are Visual or Auditory. If you are an INTP and u learn using tactile, you might want to rethink your type.

I prefer the multiple intelligence test than the standard VAK test. I took both tests just now, and answered the questions, doing my best not to bias the answers. I answered them as truthfully as I can.

My results for multiple intelligence test:

1. Logical-Mathematical - 32

4. Intrapersonal - 26
5. Linguistic - 25
6. Bodily-Kinesthetic - 20
7. Interpersonal -20

In the standard VAK test, I scored:

From the test results, I've learned that my dream of being a magician isn't very realistic.

I find I learn best with an integrated approach. The more different learning channels I can activate the better. My preferred ones are visual and experiential (hands-on application) but what I use most out of necessity is reading. When I can read about something, watch clips, study diagrams and graphs, talk about it, and even put it into practice my learning becomes incredibly em... 'complete'...

Give me material with mind blowing connections. I mean I usually have to blow up my own mind by doing extra research. Not very productive when you end up being all over.

No repetitive material such as Like Please Understand Me II where you can guess just about everything beforehand.

And please take me away from physical reality, really. I couldn't drive a tractor even tough I can barely drive a car (at least in some circumstances). Yes, I have had huge N overdose since birth.

Visual and kinesthetic

I had the best grades when I wrote down everything that was said during the lectures and then when I take everything apart and put it back together myself.

If I did not take down notes and just listen, I don't learn anything. If I see it but don't do it myself, It won't stick.

I find that I need to read/research about the topic at hand and the relations and links it may have with other topics I know of. Reading is enough for me, but not if the information is isolated, otherwise I forget in a couple of months whatever it is that I learned in the first place.

Visual/Kinesthetic, hands-on, and trial & error.

When being given information, people either talk too slow and bore my mind or talk too fast and lose me. Having information in a visual representation allows me to see everything at once which also helps to put concepts in the context of reality. It's kind of the same with reading except I'm the one doing the work, not that I don't value text for the potential to elaborate/clarify or build mental models.

As for learning behavior/techniques, I need freedom to experiment and figure the situation out for myself. Once I get a good foundation of the logic and parameters I can assimilate other methods and compare them to find the best.

Also I highly value the dialectical method in pursuit of clarity.
