Married to someone else who is quite intelligent in her own ways (maybe even able to show me up in some aspects). Someone who only cares about how we think about each other and not how others see us or see me. Maybe a bit of a liar to others--as in we save face for each other no matter what (legal and social).

Good looks, money, and wit along with a lot of private fun in my home with my wife.

World domination. Knowing everything important about my company which has a central hold in the world economy (probably in advanced technology) and being able to call the shots. Most of my business would be done over the phone or through an assistant when I am on vacation.
In the realm of abstract dreams, I would enjoy knowing something about the universe that no one else knew which would put me in the position of being able to save the world from some demonic entity while also giving me special powers. I think the ability to morph back and forth from a man to an angel with black angel wings and healing powers would suit my fantasy of being a heroic figure--though the powerful and intelligent wealthy man is my way of gaining the status of a heroic figure in this world.

I generally see it turn into depression, lack of self confidence from the constant failure, and the inevitable view of the world or god hating you. Not vanity.

It can also lead to never succeeding at anything since you are always considering only one destination for your life you never aspire to achieve alternate goals that you may have great potential for.

Absolutely correct! But you can spend your entire life bogged down - responsibilities, bills, car repairs, dead-end jobs you hate...there is so much that traps you that you can't get away from.

There is no perfect solution - either become filthy rich so you don't have to deal with them, and be worried about losing it, or forgo everything and live under a bridge, most likely in freezing abject misery. I go to the grocery or even better a restaurant of choice. Then I will get something good. I am the same way except I would not word it as if I am worried about being defeated or let down. I am more of the mind that there is nothing to be let down about. The fact that I may like something more is irrelevent because I am more interested in the experience and discerning the possiblity than I am the actually success. The success is just a bonus the real goal is the learning and the path getting there. It is like if you were playing a game and you had a choice between using a cheat to get all your stats at the max or spending hours upon hours to level up your character. Which would you choose? I would choose to level up regardless fo the cheat so that I can have fun in the experience of the game. For me the real accomplishment is not end goal but instead get past each and every bump along the way, and how it changes me in the end.
