I recently rewatched House after watching it and reaching season 7 then stopping(it's 8 seasons long). I stopped because I didn't want it to end, I know that sounds stupid but it happens to me a lot. When am at the end of a series am watching I get somewhat anxious and just stop.

Do you have fell something like this or how do you feel when at the end of a series. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I usually watch it to the end.

Then I deal with the loss of it being over.
I'll write about it (analyze everything) as a way to "unpack" and sort through the ideas and feelings. Or I'll discuss it with other people who liked it. Eventually the disappointment fades.

Sometimes I'll start a new series.

I watch until near the end, and if it's a good series I'll miss the last 3-5 eps or so. Then I can rewatch it in a year or two with completely fresh eyes having forgotten much of the content, and having no specific end point colouring my interpretation.

I do remember not wanting to finish some shows because then there'd be nothing left, it's rare though because I don't find too many TV shows to be that entertaining.

I think one of the benefits of doing things that way is that you grasp everything -- all the connecting details as you go. I was actually fortunate enough to start watching Breaking Bad two months AFTER the final episode aired, so I could watch the entire series in one straight run. (I think it took me about two weeks to get through it all.) That was really cool, and I didn't forget things, which happens if you watch a series as it airs, week after week.

I actually started watching Season 1 of Walking Dead again this week, after not having watched that for about two years and in the meanwhile sticking it out through the actual real-time Seasons 3 and 4.

It was pretty wild to see details I had missed and also see Rick in Episode 1 vs the person he is now.

I don't think I gave enough details. After dropping the series I eventually get around to rewatching it and end it, but that feeling that it's about it end is BAD. Since you brought up breaking bad I remembered another weird thing I do. Which is when am watching a series or anime I really enjoy and am into, I just suddenly stop it without an actual reason. I think it's because I have analyzed it to the point of understanding it.

I mourn for a few minutes and then I figure out what else to watch. Sometimes I do miss being able to watch new episodes of Dexter, Breaking Bad, etc.

Right now the best thing I can think of to watch that I haven't seen is Lost, and it is starting to piss me off a little. Season 2 is getting weirdly religion based, and that sours the whole thing for me.. not that it wasn't kinda corny from the get-go.

I don't like to watch American series since they're really long and the threat of cancellations are always in the air (which means no closure or forced endings). I do prefer the shorter 24 to 48 episode types of series or anime.

Anyways, after watching the end of a series I simply imagine "what could have been's" (I don't write fan-fiction though), maybe draw a character or two and move on.

Piss and moan and accept the fact that I need to move on.
