Nobody really gives a shit of course, but I thought it'd be 'nice' to share.

I didn't get anything this year. Nor did my wife. Instead, we bought new cars for ourselves ~ a week ago because we needed to resolve the 'small cars + family = abject failure' problem. A problem which was causing us a fucking huge headache every time we wanted to do the shopping, or take the kids somewhere.

Now, I have so much boot space I can go camping in my car - and I'm over 6ft 2".

Fuckin' A.

I dunno if a car loan counts as a something you tell people you 'got for Christmas' but I like your use of the phrase 'abject failure' - 8/11.

The whole thread was 100% intended as a boast post. Look at me, rollin' high and buying expensive things.

*lords over everyone*

(but not actually, because what I bought isn't at all that fancy).

i made bank. not enough to buy a tesla. but enough for my first smartphone. looking forward to be rejected by everyone on tinder.

Smartphones are the worst. I require one for work (it's actually provided by them - an iPhone 7 Plus, of all things - fucking ugh). Handy for taking snaps of the kids and sharing them with family members who give a shit about that sort of thing, though. It allows me to employ the 20/80 rule: don't actually have to see any of the fuckers, but keep them more than sated by sharing pictures of their 'darling girls'.

As for Teslas... nice motors. I shan't be affording one of those any time soon :(

I had coffee making machine, a VR attachment for my phone that the kids will probably enjoy playing with, some toiletries, hoodie and some t-shirts. And some socks.

I too bought a car a month ago for myself that I'm classing as my XMas present to myself.

A journal, some hand cream, a movie I already had, and a necklace. I expect my mom to give me money, which I'll save for furniture for my new house, but I won't see her until Friday.

I had more fun finding presents for my kids, tbh.

The new cars sound cool PMJ. I'm kind of stuck in my 2004 Accord since I'm house buying instead, hopefully it won't conk out. (The saddest thing about me wanting an unpgrade is that I'd like to have a sound system that works, including a USB port.) What's the model? One of my kids got a used Honda Fit, which are pretty awesome in that they look like tiny boxes but somehow have enough room inside for the Tall Ones.

A Honda probably won't conk out on you. I'm fairly certain that Honda engines are supremely reliable... and really, 2004 isn't that old this day in age. It isn't like the 50s - 70s where everything was a rust-riddled shitbox. My 'new to me' car is a 2012 reg. I actually traded a '14 in for it. Sounds counter intuitive I know, but the 'new' car has 13k less miles on the clock and is a heck of a lot of car in comparison.

The wife's is a 2016 model, because she's a flash git. Bloody ENTJs.

I hope all the house-y stuff goes well for you. We moved in to this place with big ideas about doing it all up. It was a repo which needed tearing back to a shell. We did that, then got it back to 'liveable' just before daughterspawn #1 arrived. Since then we have been struggling to find the time to get the odds and ends finished.

I think we'll probably live in it and do it up a bit at a time for the next 5 years or so, then move the hell away.

Maybe she means a musical keyboard which plugs in, or something.

I'm taking the arty-farty avatar into consideration ;p

Lol'd at this :P
No, its a wireless keyboard and mouse, I guess my husband thought it would be a good thing to get. I thought it was kinda pointless cause the laptop comes with a built it keyboard and mouse. You can use it on the tv too.

Yeah I figured it was something like that, I just thought the order of how you wrote it was humourous - because it's like you got the keyboard for the laptop and then got the laptop (obviously you got both on Christmas so it's not actually like that but the effect was funny).

I got 9 new glasses which is 7 more than I have space for in more cupboards, 20 capri sonne juice bags, a soldering station, make up and the best one, the arduino starter kit. And an ikea book shelf that I started building yesterday but is now just laying there half finished and taking up half my living room because I'm feeling apprehensive about sawing custom holes for wires in it. This year has probably been the best yet, presentwise. I got a lot of stuff, but unfortunately only gave crap because I'm really poor and was unsuspectedly sucker punched by christmas this year. Something I should have seen coming a month away really.

An old fridge, an old couch, an old book case, two bags of nuts, and some coathangers.

I bought myself two games off steam, and I'm going to buy myself a ute in the next few weeks.

They're knowledgeable, and the best for the job, but can be a headache to deal with because their car passion tends to splurge. I'm also not sure if they hate me atm or not

Well, I love your avatar, so if that's any consolation...

Its bigger by a tiny margin. Now where did that one emoticon go?

I think it's hiding somewhere near your slightly smaller left testicle so that it's not found when you give the right one away for a bottle of kakov.

I gave an expensive/complicated trailer hitch, legos and avatar comics to the various kids, money & their favorite chips to the teenger, a (prof) massage, some generic girly bs from b&b, a bunch of flavor concentrates, contributed to a huge heavy duty shelving unit, a Himalayan salt lamp and some chocolate/caramel candy apples. I'm so insanely busy during December, I barely had time. I will probably do some post-xmas gift giving as well.

I got some premier ejuice, a ton of chocolate, nail polish, a nerdy t-shirt, punisher pjs, a space hoodie, pistachios, a giftcard to a sporting goods store, a hydroflask, some 18650 batteries, a lot of socks including a pair lined with what I'm guessing is unicorn hair they're so soft, and some halloween skull bracelets that reminded my mother of me (isn't she sweet?). I'm told I'm difficult to shop for.

heh. I don't really think so, but thank you. :o

I find shopping for other people is much more fun than shopping for myself, due to innate reflexive frugality.
