Is LA even that nice?

It probably depends on where you are.

For example, when I was landing there, it looked really cool from the air. And then when a friend drove me out to the beach to watch the sunset, it was pretty remarkable.

But I bet some areas aren't quite as nice.

San Diego was actually pretty amazing, and my moods were high when visiting there... I just don't know if I could afford to live there, and the fire hazard seems bad. (My ex-in-laws sold their house and moved back here to the east coast some years back, and I think their old house out there burned down in the one of the fires they've had since then.)

I liked San Diego when I was there. When I think of LA, gang wars and homeless people spring to mind. Hollywood doesn't help either.

Right now I am doing business in Nashville, which seems to have the forward thinking of a Northern city while preserving the good sense of Southern decency. They are real but cultured people. And their Thai and Indian restaurants are the best I have ever experienced. The East Coast also seems too Old World and sectarian. Kentucky is also a nice state.

When I was a kid: a huge Gothic castle with black curtains, the entire outside of the house painted black and red, and a long flight of stairs at the front door which would shoot sparks with every step I took.

Now:
Option #1: Ironically for me, my hometown of New York City (one would think an introvert would hate New York, but I like the excitement). Specifically, a small apartment, the walls decorated by yours truly (I'm thinking black roses with silver stems, but I haven't decided on the background color... maybe dark purple?) Walls of bookshelves stocked with all manner of fiction, encyclopediae, and manga, and the apartment would be close to the library. And a fast, working internet connection with good bandwidth (ideally fiber, but it's so expensive...)

Option #2: A small quiet house, near a lake, but also near a city (probably impossible, but I can dream). A decent amount of land for raising a farm. Solar generated energy, walls decorated as above, as well as the stocked bookshelves. A small room, furnished simply, to be used for meditation.

And for both options: two bedrooms, one which will not be a bedroom at all, but a lab in which I will try out the things I learn in my books, and occasionally check out the stars at night with my telescope.

^^I think cities are ideal places for introverts. At the moment I am finding myself in a cafe/bar full of people, drinking a glass of house something something, eating something off a wooden hipster plank. I like studying everyone around me (creepy much?) and striking up odd conversations with other hipsters who are wanting to know what it is I'm eating off my wooden plank.

Kind of nice to be alone, surrounded by people.

Of course, one could flip it on the head and think of it as the most lonely existence.

But it is entirely up to me.

I'm genuinely surprised no one has gone with a star ship yet.

Mine would be self-sufficient and something like a billionaire's private jet and the Nautilus on steroids.

A log cabin type modern house, in a gated community of intuitive and benevolent thinkers, on the outskirts of a skiing community, near a major city such as denver.

Every has to drive a car under 10,000 dollars. No outward shows of materialism is permitted.

kentucky is gorgeous, small cities and unspoiled country. I just cant deal with the culture of the country though, not that they are not nice folk, but trying to dig out an intuitive intelligent conversation as if you were living in watts or something.

A place in Northwest with redwoods, rivers, lakes full of salmon and trout - could be amongst native american Indians in a tribe like community. Fishing, cooking, painting, creating music and harvesting orchards And smoking salmon.
