Were you as crazy in girls as your teenager counterparts?

I'm not telling you, stalker! :P
It's curious though, because I've noticed a pattern in the fact that many INTPs here don't go crazy over girls. I mean, don't get me wrong but there are kids at eleven years old going crazy over girls and are sexually active.

Hell, even I am hardly interested in the whims of dating. I haven't met a single girl that I have actually ever liked more then a friend, and even then, such a girl is extremely rare.

The only people whom I get along with even when I show my intellectual and argumentative side are you guys, and that is really no surprise since we are all INTPs.

What about you guys?

I wasn't interested. Then I met an amazing girl.

To go on further...uh...I've only really liked 3 girls in my entire life? So yeah...I am not active.

It is simply because I haven't noticed this part of my humanity as much as I noticed the rest. It's not as important as food. It depends on your values. But I think my EQ is not sufficient enough to answer the question.

In any case, I'm hoping an INTP pops up in my life. Though the one that I have now really isn't bad. XD

Re: Were you as crazy in girls as your teenager conterparts?

I think I was more curious about sex and relationships than really driven to have it or need it.

I have had relationships with 4 women. The first was when I was 15 and my last ended at 19, shortly after 9/11/01. Guessing their types, ISFJ, ENFP, IN/SFJ(heavily abused and did a lot of coccaine that I didn't know about at the time.), ESTJ.

I wouldn't say my relationships were turbulent, however the first three had an extremely hard time dealing with my detachment, especially the third; she really got me thinking of myself as a monster. With the last woman, I was on a rebound after the last girlfriend and I was completely irrational/clingy, she ran away quick and broke my irrational heart in addition to my pride. The craziest notion is that I don't have any interest in being with her, but that sense of abandonment still lingers after over 8 years.

I have been consistently single for 8 years, partially due to not finding a woman that really hits the spot for me, partially due to insecurities, partially due to understanding my own need for detachment and how so few woman can handle that.

I don't 'chase' women. I really don't even care to talk about women that much. In the town where I live, the people can't seem to comprehend that sex and bragging aren't the top subjects on my list of priorities and so they infer that I am gay.

That being said, I actually have a very healthy sex drive, but it doesn't govern me.

Re: Were you as crazy in girls as your teenager conterparts?

Well I am 15 since the end of december. I promised myself to get a gf this year (if you try to and think about it it becomes much easier.) If only so to stop the annoying mental tug of war (I don't feel like it--I need one so much--actually it would be a waste of time--It would be interesting--really?--Yes--I still think its a waste of time--etc) and to experience something new. I might even learn something on my life "quest".

Yup, I've never really wanted a girl-friend. Though I think I'm having one of those tug-of-wars in my head that LAM mentioned...it...kinda sucks. This is all mainly because of a chick from culinary :o...well there's also this chick in art class who is confusing the hell out of me. She's cool but....relationships aren't my gig? I guess?.....ugh

Re: Were you as crazy in girls as your teenager conterparts?

hmmm weird. I think I am the sore exception. I've liked 7 girls and I am only 18! But literally I am just damned too shy, damned too thoughtful, and damned too obsessive for my own good. They basically turn into an endangered species and I am the observer. Until recently, I did make an attempt, ended up as an msn friend, brain neglected the feeling until she went for a jerk overseas, and I pretty much went off all immature about it. In the end, realized I am what I am, there's no point to go after a shallow extrovert. I am and always give more than they ever will be or could give.

Re: Were you as crazy in girls as your teenager conterparts?

I stopped caring about finding a girl until I happened to run into a really amazing one in my first week of college. She's actually my first girlfriend ever, but we work together so well that problems are extremely rare now. We've been living together inseparably for almost 2 years.
She's an ISFJ. No one here mentions ISFJs... Did you know their functions are the same as ours, just flipped?
Ti Ne Si Fe - INTP
Si Fe Ti Ne - ISFJ

We 'get' each other extremely well. She takes care of my weak points and I take care of hers.

Until meeting her, I thought I was destined to always seem strange and alien to most girls. In high school and earlier I had trouble with connecting to people in any kind of meaningful way, so I felt better by rationalizing it.

"Girls are going to be more effort than it's worth to me now anyways."
"I'm never going to meet a girl that I can adequately relate to."
"If I live alone, I live more freely. No attachments, no worries."

The last of the 3 occurs to me sometimes still, but the freedom of being alone and detached is never worth sacrificing love.

Re: Were you as crazy in girls as your teenager conterparts?

I was very interested in girls. I didn't show it as much as other guys, but it was present. That's not to say that I met many girls/women that I clicked with, but it's great when that happens!

Re: Were you as crazy in girls as your teenager conterparts?

I've only been really 'interested' in a few girls over the years, and unfortunately they all ended up not to be what I thought. Despite this I still consider myself a romantic, I just need to find someone I think is worth the effort.

This mostly.

I'm 19 and I've dated a few girls in my time, but it was never a situation where I took the lead. I'd say all the girls I've dated were great in their own way, but none of them really got me. I've opened up to only a couple people and was met with a look of  every time.

18 now and never been in love. I find most men boring. *yawn* Also most of them have the maturity of 12 year olds.

Re: Were you as crazy in girls as your teenager conterparts?

I almost fell for someone then they messed me around so I gave up (or am giving up, slowly). Also had a crush on a guy but it turned out to be awe/respect rather than attraction (he was like an older brother or something).

I didn't notice girls/women untill I was around seventeen or so. Didn't get serious with one until the age of twenty two. Dated for two years, broke up, been single ever since. It just aint that important to me.

Re: Were you as crazy in girls as your teenager conterparts?

I thought about them constantly but had no (good) idea of what to do about it. At some point I just quit thinking about them. There is a theme of general cluelessness regarding this subject coupled with a tendency towards obsessiveness. And then there's the intermittent apathy, which kinda makes it hard to care enough to actually do anything, which wouldn't be difficult in and of itself, if not for unreliable motivation. The pendulum swings too far and won't keep still, and I'm left to wonder what causes this. It actually reminds me of addict-like behavior.

The "intermittent apathy" is probably like more than half the reason I don't have a gf yet (I got rid of most of the other problems, or at least made them really small. Such as self-consciousness.)

Yeah, taking the lead is really hard for me. It's almost suicide to open up to someone when you're an INTP. Who doesn't find string theory fascinating? Or game theory?

I don't think that this is a trait singular to INTP males. I am a female, and I can definatly relate to this. While all the rest of my female acquintances obsess over multiple guys (and Justin Bieber), I have managed, with some difficulty, to entirely remove myself from the dating scene at my school. The one male that I have a close bond with is as emotionally distant as I am.
