@Kormak
I love your new...what's it called. Picture thing.

^^ didn't want to ruin the bunny thread, so moved to here.

I used to be quite into gaming culture, so I have 2 characters that I really enjoyed. Well written ones imo:

1. Darth Traya, e_e quite the phylosophy behind this one. the lesson of strength tho was worth playing the game over and over for:

2. Recently got back into league as a way to vent after work and with this whole Odin archetype business I discovered the rework of Swain (which is the picture of the avatar thingy). I guess the same reason I like Kreya applies here. Absolute bird dad XD, the intelligence aspect of strength.

Smiling Jack from "Vampire: The Masquerade" that game has a lot of interesting characters but he's the most likeable.

I replayed Silent Hill 2 last week and while the main character, James, is a bit of an everyman on the surface the characterisation throughout that game and how it interplays with the gamer's choices and the gaming environment is pretty masterful. It has the most mature representation of mental illness I can recall in a video-game with all of its characters really.

I always liked Shodan from System Shock 2 (Bioshock predecessor.) You're basically trapped on an abandoned space-craft with an AI (Shodan) that's in command of the ship, has gone insane, believes it's God, and basically manipulates you throughout the game to do what she wants you to. The game's ending is shockingly shit and there's so much wasted potential in the game (despite how good it is) but otherwise I remember finding her really chilling and convincing.

I'd say they're my two favourite video-games. Most of my others -- like Zelda: Link to the Past, Earthbound, Donkey Kong Country 2 -- I'm not necessarily fans of for the characters, they serve their purpose, they're just really fun and nostalgic.

I’m sorry you guys - I think I started this but I’m totally lost XD
I can’t join in on the enthusiasm. Last time I played a video game it was that nuclear disaster game where you run around with your dog stealing things so you can make a village where you enslave your fellow man by making them garden and run a little shop and such?

After I touched the controller for about a minute something ran at me and tried to kill me and my horse ran off a cliff and committed suicide.

I played WoW for a bit in college though...because I was made to. Almost literally. I was trying to “rescue” a depressed bi-polar guy who was on food stamps, and he used his money to pay for the game so I was guilt-obliged to play it for the duration of our very weird friendship. It was pretty cool when you get to the last levels! I like the pvp thing.

But that, the sims, and Pokémon sum up my gaming experience. Oh! And Stardew Valley. I love SV <3

When I was a kid I played a game called Dark Ages but it’s long since been dead.

Hmm...if it counts at all, I like to play Final Fantasy music on my keyboard. Mediocrely. I never played the game, but they have excellent piano pieces!

Lol as a teenager I found Therese Voerman to be interesting, usually, Malkavians are. Played one as well. Its quite the trip when you play through once and then roll Malkavian.
Really good old game.

For those who don't know, clan Malkavian's members are all raving mad, so you get interesting but really freaking strange conversation options with deep insight (Ni). The options make sense if you played the game once with another clan. :P imo Malkavian and Nosferatu playthroughs are the most fun.

I'm assuming with the mention of swain and the lack of depth characters have in league lore that I have a free pass to mention well-written characters that aren't agreed upon by many, but rather just our favourite characters that had a memorable personality/ideology. So my list:

Ratchet- Ratchet and clank
Gehrman the First Hunter- Bloodborne
Father Gascoigne- Bloodborne
Geralt of Rivia- Witcher
Kratos- God of war(s)
Something from MGS, maybe boss/naked snake
Andrew Ryan- Bioshock (anything from Bioshock 1 overall)

Because of the scope of this question being limited to video games I now want to explore our favourite characters in tv, books and anime.

EDIT: Oh my how did I forget about handsome jack? best bang for your buck humour, repeatable for a long, long time.
