I laugh more when I am listening to the band tool.

Any explanations are encouraged.

I've never actually listened to tool.

Some of their records are wicked expensive, though.

Wicked, I say. Wicked.

I don't own a single album by them. This is where youtube is your best friend.

[Edit] Oh, you said record.

Music that reflects our mood makes us feel happy for some reason, you're basically getting a euphoric/cathartic rush off the feedback.

probably cos theyre stoners tbh

edit: to expand on my hypothesis, what I mean is that you may be getting a kind of audio-based contact high. Due to, I believe, Tool's music being heavily influenced by drug use, listening to it may put you in the kind of state of mind similar to being on the drugs which they were using during the song's creation. Part of being on said drugs would presumably include laughing a lot.

I guess a hole in this theory would appear if it turned out that there was no such pattern in your reactions to other bands based on whether the music was influenced by drug use in its creation, however it seems a sound hypothesis to me.

I find tool to be good because it's technically sound without stealing your attention like most other proggy bands do. This means I can listen to it without sacrificing whatever I planned on doing during.

As for getting teh big grins, how extensively have you listened? Music has some big conditioning elements. There are a lot of songs out there that elicit tears from me through sheer 'having gone through a lot together'-ness, even if I can't name a single emotional pairing of stim to response.

What songs make you laugh in particular? If there are any ofcourse..

I have found a strong attraction to this band myself, the songs have lyrics that I relate to completely and I have caught myself smiling while listening solely because I was glad I discovered them. You're not weird :)

Its not really what songs specifically, its more that I am just a bit more giddy when I listen to them.

I have listened to them quite a bit. Often times I just pick a song by them that I want to listen to and just let youtube do its auto play and then end up listening to them all day. As Hado said, I feel fine just doing whatever it is that I normally do while listening to them.

The foundation of their work is nihilistic wherein constant projection of the need for a leverage, for a savior, for hope is being expressed and driven toward.

The laughter is caused by emphasizing with their perspective which releases tensions and resolves confusions.

Listen to "Cire - Adrenological", it should give off a similar effect.

I've listened to some orchestras play their music. Its very hit or miss for the most part. Currently looking for a good rendition of ticks and leeches.
