There's been a trend I've noticed with myself and that is that I tend to want to get into an area just to pioneer and perfect it. For example, I've been considering getting into game development/design just to make something that irons out all of the kinks out of what's already released. I've also considered making music just to refresh my mind from all of the whiny recursive, repetitive crap you hear everywhere. I'm sure there is meaningful, genuine romantic music, however, it's SO repetitive that it loses all significance that it would otherwise have. I've also considered directing. You get the point.

Do you share these urges? Have you followed through with anything?

Good luck with that. In other words, do you really think experienced game developers aren't trying to do the same thing? It's harder than you think.

My current location is classified.
Striving for perfection and achievement is a common trait in NT Rationals. See it as ambition. However, ambition can be bad as it is good. It's a double-edged sword, be careful with your cunning.

@Architect I'm aware it's a difficult and common pursuit, I still feel the urge to design/develop something (although with a minimalist & reductionist sheen) polished with original mechanics. It's satisfying just to think about (I also have to keep in mind that that's can be a trap in itself).

I am working on something in OpenGL, however I might just end up switching to a commercial engine if that turns out to be a bigger time-sink than I think would be worthwhile.

@Alias

Noted, although I'm not sure how cunning or ambitious a actually am. I think it's better to think of me as more of an opinionated bystander.

I don't know what you have in mind, but I have urges for discovering or creating something new, it's pioneering I think.

I already has left programming, because it's boring - nothing creative here, only using existing ideas (math is same unless you discover something new like theese famous mathemathicans like Carl Friedrish Gauss).

I've been feeling like this since I was 14 years old, maybe even younger.I suspect it will go away in old age, so we better hurry up, because this is a tough thing to do since it requires you keep going at it even after you reached a pretty good level of mastery.

I have this massive fear where I imagine myself at 80 years old sitting on a chair with no energy, strong nostalgia filled with hopelessness at the fact I wasted my potential and there's no mulligan in life.What a cruel end that would be.

I have the feeling as well. I want to write a story that has never been written. I want to develop medical equipment that has never been thought of. I want to work in the least known biomedical field just so I can make it known.
Trying to do them, however, leads to paralysis. Blank word documents and running away from complex ideas.
