VBulletin Improvements

Hello POWERS-THAT-BE,
I have begun to notice the differences caused by the vBulletin upgrade...
In the past I raised the question about whether there was a 'compilation' subroutine available thru vBulletin. The goal was to perhaps create a Links Library of all the interesting links posted on various threads in one 'location', an associated compilation would be a compilation of all the images posted into one 'gallery" of thumbnails, etc.?

Well, actually... most of the differences in the great leap forward from the elderly feudalistic paper tiger 3.6.5 to the present shining light of socialist achievement, 3.8.4 are real but imperceptible.

The large array of new and updated hacks --- called mods by vbulletin for your added confusion --- installed over the last month are rather more responsible for revealed changes.

I've no understanding that vbulletin itself, pure from vbulletin.com, offers what you suggest. Maybe a Mod writer might create a hack if asked, at vbulletin.org... You may like to browse there.

In the meantime, it may be noted that I have removed the old Downloads II hack which was a gallery for individual members to upload files for universal viewing which no-one used, and installed the Ultimate Gallery Lite which is a gallery for individual members to upload files for universal viewing which no-one will use. This is progress.



I'll make a sticky soon listing the latest hacks ( those for public consumption, not those for enabling the state apparatus to fulfil it's historic function of universal Stazi-like surveillance and protection of the workers' state ) and how they may be used by members.

Where is this ultimate Gallery Lite that I will never use?

I think Miserable Users has got to be one of the most ingenious mods to date. You have to wonder how pissed off the creator was at a few of his forum members to be motivated to write it. Luckily I haven't had to install it...yet.

Jawinn, there was something much better, called Erwin's Warning System. Sadly, it has not yet been ported to 3.5.x. We're looking into getting it ported for personal use on our forum.

I've yet to work out how people use it --- I'd rather concentrate on the flash problems for flvs and youtube swfs ( flvs ) and mp3s, none of which work exactly as promised; and changing hosting --- but it's on the list.

Oh, we have Miserable Users, from the creation. But there are no people in that group now; and the 7 that were, who hadn't come back for a long while, were transferred back to the normal user-group.



I wanted it installed upon another forum solely for the benefit of another mod who was playing Becket to my Henry II...
