I'm new here and at my current state of mind I'm quite inebriated (by alcohol) at the moment. But I noticed that I think in terms of "us" or "we" when I think. I'm not sure if this makes sense but it would be nice to know if anyone else thinks of themselves as two people that debate things in their minds. I feel like I'm crazy or something when I'm in deep thought and its almost like I refer to myself as two people. When I think about doing something I say in my head "We are going to do 'X'" or "We will take 'X' action". Does anyone else think like this or am I just insane?

I've been doing that too. It feels weird, especially when I talk about 'we' when it's actually something that was single-handedly done by someone else.

I started slipping into us/we when I was in job interviews. I would say things like "oh, so what is the next step in the research that we would do?"

I dunno. I think that INTPs often speak in 'weak' language, where we speak/write in a passive language. Reverting from you/I/they/one to we/us is a naturally progression of passive language. We/us does not identify individuals as much- something that we have anxiety with.

also FUCK YEAH ALCOHOL INEBRIATION *tries to high-five but misses*

Yeah, I do that too (especially when I am alone or there is no intelligent or conversation to be had.) Although this might just be me preferring to personify the two sides of on argument I am thinking of at that time.

If that makes you insane then I am too, I do exactly the same thing.

Same with me, although I use the term "we and I" due to my profound affinity for the Fallout game series (and by series I'm referring to the first 2).

I sometimes do. I caught myself doing it just a few days ago and decided it was because the inner debate wasn't between two individual sides but two group sides. So I took to using "we". That is something I do a lot, have one grouping in my head arguing against another grouping in my head. It's useful for having varying perspectives arguing for the same cause or idea if that makes any sense.

It's the royal "we", correct? ;)

(I am compelled to clarify for anyone who may be confused by that statement: royalty (for example, a queen or king of england) would refer to herself/himself as "we" for some inexplicable reason (actually, there is a reason, but I do not know it, and do not feel like looking it up right now, maybe later, I'll search it on wikipedia, and therefore will be distracted for anywhere from 5 minutes to 6 hours or so))

I go by we if i'm lying and/or sympathizing with someone... Or argueing. It adds clout to make it seem as if many hold your opinion.

I would just like to say that "inebriated by alcohol" is redundant. The word "inebriated" is alcohol-specific.

As for thinking patterns, I don't think I dissociate this way. My dissociation is a dissociation of mind, emotion, and body (sensory input) from "self". Each informs the self but is separate from the self; the self merely makes decisions, nothing more. This model is somewhat lacking, though; it does not, for example, account for pointlessly low moods, profound emotion (e.g. grief), etc. (Though some profoundly emotional settings have an eerie amount of dissociation, where in the background there is this "entity" that really does not give a shit about whatever the problem is.)

I mentally speak both in the singular and plural sense. I also tend to think as if I'm talking to somebody who always follows me around, though, so I guess that makes sense. For an example of how that works:
"Lets look around for that CD. Oh there it is. I just stepped on it. Alright. Now let's go downstairs and I'll go to the bathroom, then we can head out to the store."

...Amazingly, I manage to make mistakes and go to the bathroom in the singular...

I also tend to have to explain myself regularly in singular to the other involved in "we". If that makes sense. And sometimes the other will argue with me, referring to me as "you". (Usually when I'm about to do something stupid.)

But I always speak singularly when I'm in front of other people... lol
