Existence and consciousness, you cannot escape it, these are the primaries for every action you take. Think of nothing existing, there is no consciousness in that case. Existence is Identity, Consciousness is Identification. Really, consciousness is like any other existence, it possesses identity, has a specific nature, functioning through specific means. Magic...nonsense. And I can study existence but I cannot prove existence by means of non-existence. Proving existence is a self-contradiction. Yes, consciousness is man's most abused vital organ. Man lying, fakes reality etc, think of what this does to a man's mind.

What you have to define is what is consciousness.
An inanimate rock interacts with world just as everything is connected to everything.
Each atom is like a computer.
Things that do not connect with universe are not part of universe even if originally they may have connected to universe, but without connection to universe we will never be aware of it outside of speculation.
But then if you mean that universe is conscious much like you and me, well that would be hard to prove and is improbable.
