I have this adversary. I used to be good friends with him, because we liked a lot of the same things, and we were both awkward. Things went downhill when he sought to take control of our little group of awkward people. He'd constantly insult people by saying that we would follow him everywhere, and he would liken my cool friend to Neville Longbottom as an insult due to said friend's forgetfulness. He became overwhelmingly confident, and his sense of humor went from hilarious and spontaneous to random and childish. I gave him second chances and warned him of his behavior, but he would never listen. After finally breaking our 'friendship', he got all bitter and spiteful. He then turned to wanting to join the cool kids, so to speak. Like you see those guys who think they're the best, those alpha-males with little to no intelligent taste. Not even those idiots accept him. He's been trying to ruin my reputation in my career, but no one believes him because he's a disruption to society and an obvious liar. So, INTP forum, what type do you give to this small, conniving, Napoleon Syndrome, gollum-like excuse for a man? I don't want to make any rash typing decisions, because I'd end up insulting the type I give him.

However, being the selfish person I am, I'm more interested in this change in dynamic. Luckily, there's a chance that your answers will help me or others type him.

First, do you think he is/was directly competitive with you? Was the feeling mutual? Did it begin playfully enough or as an undercurrent that became sour and overt?

Second, how old are you guys, and how long have you been friends?

Third, have either of you developed substance use issues?

Fourth, has he gone through some kind of trauma?

Fifth, is it possible that his behavior didn't change so much as your perspective? I mean, could he have been random and childish all along? Sometimes the novelty of things has to wear off before you scrutinize.

Sixth, was/is he moody and broody? Did he start one way and end up another?

Hat-Wearing MAN here, I made a new account because I lost the password to the first.

1. He was and is very competitive with me. He sort of tries to play it cool and act like me when I'm in a chill, ENTP mood. He's resorted to mocking me behind my back, so on his side it's gotten childish. He started his power climb with joking, sarcastic, but intentionally harmful remarks, so he may have wanted people to toy with.

2. I don't want to disclose my age here, but it's still sort of a volatile, youthful, discovering your potential age. We were friends for just about a year.

3. None of us do drugs or excessively drink alcohol, but he's sort of fat if that counts.

4. He used to say that his parents were really strict, but now he talks about his father like he's a great guy. His parents may or may not be divorced. I see an inkling of reason if he's gone through something, but this is improper conduct.

5. This is what got me. He did act like that a bit from the beginning. I think I matured a bit and learned to ditch him. After I stopped hanging out with him, my reputation did improve, both among fellow males and females. Thanks for that thought.

6. He is sort of moody, you can say. He might be a T type, but a very emotional one. He also could be INTP, but one of the less analytical and factual ones, because we are still quite different. He even once tried to poke fun at my large vocabulary, so he doesn't have as much of an INTP regard for grammar.

Good question. Probably just because ever since I discovered MBTI, I want to try and find the types of people.

Because you learn by doing? Wanting to type people is pretty natural after you've discovered MBTI and a good way of learning more about it if you do it seriously aka with the help of functions.

ESTP is plausible. Although he's into some nerdy stuff, he approaches people comfortably and outwardly does things in a dynamic 'why not?' manner of an ESTP.

If I had to pick one based on my experience of the types, I'd probably go with ESTP, with a strong emphasis on Se. Mainly because Cartman doesn't have any kind of moral integrity to have Fi in his character's function stack, seems to be into impulsive pleasure seeking, and doesn't seem to have enough introverted intuition to realize how full of shit he is most of the time. He kind of rides the wave of what's popular and fun, without any regard to anything else. Sensation doesn't seem to be a neurotic point for him, but an intuitive understanding of the implications of what he's doing, believes, or thinks does.

ESTP makes sense for both Cartman and the guy in my case. I'm now thinking of him like Cartman, and that helps me deal with his shit.
