INTP's do you ever get that feeling where sometimes you have to turn off your brain in order to get things done?

-I think im INTP, maybe a problem that other INTPs face

some things to note
-Currently Pre-med student, taking classes that seem boring/useless to me
- Finals week
- i cant get the energy to study for them. id rather lay on my bed and think about other things than get my work done and its extremely hard to pull out my notes and read about anatomy, history, economics etc.

Dont get me wrong some things i find cool it is just i feel very unmotivated to learn things i dont want to at the time just to get a good grade, to get into med school. I think about the whole school system and how its so fucking dumb that i need grades to get into med school.

I have the ability to think about rather useless things (to others) for hours and studying for school to me is as if i have to shut down my brain and just get to work, but it requires so much mental motivation to sit and memorize all these slides.

Its as if i just gotta shut down my brain for the time being and just memorize.

I think of it as shutting down Ti and having to use Si to just learn the material.

Any INTP's feel this way?
Have a hard time doing things you dont want to?
Maybe im just being a little bitch

I have had this problem in the past. About 25 years ago, it went away for me because I had kids and my motivation to feed them trumped my lack of motivation to do stuff I didn't like to do.

But, yeah, I had to turn off portions of my brain (as it were) to do that.

Overall, it's been a tremendous net benefit. Turns out, here and there scattered throughout the other 15 types, are loads of handy ways of seeing the world and doing stuff.

Just takes effort (and motivation).

You don't need to turn off Ti.

The work you face appears to be void of any ingenuity of solving in your own way. The problem has already been worked out, and the process has already been defined. Your job now is the mundane grind.

Thus, it is uninteresting, and lacking of any motivation.

Unless, it makes other people happy :) Unfortunately, nobody gives a shit whether you do it or not.

But really, does it have to be this way? Is there reason why it is important? Perhaps, looking long-term may help.

No, see the other threads here on this subject. You need to think to get anything done after all, if you're to enjoy it at all. And if you're not enjoying it, why do it?

Hint: the key is to fully engage Ne & Si.
