trying to avoid burn out

So, between trying to get a business up and running and working a day job, being in a band, and taking computer science classes at the college, I often find myself ending up with very very little time to just take it easy and for the sake of maintaining some semblance of sanity.

But I'm finding it harder and harder to just keep working away at all the things I need to do, I'm starting to become less productive, and I think I'm near burn out, and probably have been for a while.

I'm thinking I need to set aside one day each week to really just lounge and not do any sort of work. I hope some day to have more than just one day set aside for this sort of thing!
However I also want to get out of the not so great financial situation I'm in, and get to the point where I'm not always one pay check away from disaster. These days it seems like getting anywhere requires just working your butt off like there's no tomorrow, grrr.

Any one tried this? Did it help?

Any other tips for avoiding burn out?

Chill out?

As long as you don't freeze.

Keep tabs on your mental state. You need to listen to yourself. If you need a break, take it. Exercise helps.

Learn yoga or tai chi. Sounds kinda weird I know but it helped me immensely in dealing with stress. Don't forget to have FUN!!!!!!!

Yes, I've been there. Burn out is a more serious thing than many people know. It can break you if it goes on long enough, and it can take months to recover even if it doesn't. You are wise to avoid it.

As hard as it may be, you need to get a support structure. Reach out to friends and ask them for help. Burn out seems to make people want to withdraw, and for an INTP even more so, but that would be a mistake. Find someone who can help you, with phone calls, checking homework, walking your dog, picking up groceries, or whatever you need. Get a few things off your plate.

Get some exercise, too, even a little. It helps. And get your eyes checked, because eyestrain or a slightly wrong prescription can mess up your entire body and mind.

I really wish you luck.

End this rat race. Yes, there are a finite number of resources, who cares? Enjoy yourself, enrich the lives of those around you, and make a positive impact on the world. Then, die, and maybe do it all over again.

Peace

All I can say is that sleep deprivation is DEVASTATING in terms of burnout. If you can, be sure not to be sleep deprived; if you have trouble falling asleep, don't hesitate to try something like melatonin to help you get a full night's sleep. If you don't even have enough time to get a full night's sleep* and maybe have an hour or two to yourself every day to do what you want, then yeah you need to cut some things out of your schedule, imo.

*Full night's sleep is an absolute minimum of 7 hours a night, though having 5-6 during the week and then 8-10 on the weekends can be sufficient but is not ideal either.
