You sir, win unconditional troll control. :smoker:
Do not give up so easily. Learn from trolls NOT to give up. When it comes to trolls you must think

. . . . . . . . . . . . Visitor and Zoo

Only the troll is the visitor and YOU are the caged.

I'm from the origin of trolls. And ever since I was small I wasn't told tales of religion or things like that. But troll fairy tales. Even through the TV. I think I have developed compassion with trolls. It's a good match isn't it? Witches and Trolls?

Far to the north, there is a long and narrow country called Norway. Dark forests, moonlit lakes, deep fjords, and mighty snow-capped mountains make the country beautiful and mysterious. I say mysterious because all over Norway live strange and interesting people called Trolls. There are many types of trolls; some are very big and some are very small, but they all have certain characteristics. All trolls have big ears and long noses, and bushy tails. Trolls are night creatures. They do not like the sunlight. They can live much longer than humans. Another super-human feat is that they can make themselves invisible. There are many legends in Norway about the trolls, but the most famous is Three Billy Goats Gruff. This is how it goes.
Once upon a time there were three billy goats, names Gruff. They were on their way to eat on the hillside, but they had to cross a bridge. Under the bridge lived a troll, with eyes as big as saucers, and a nose as long as a poker.
The first goat over the bridge was the youngest Billy Goat Gruff. "Trip, trap, trip, trap!" he walked across the bridge.
"Who's that tripping over my bridge?" roared the troll.
"I am the smallest Billy Goat Gruff, and I'm going up to the hillside to make myself fat," said the billy goat, with a tiny voice.
"I'm coming to gobble you up," said the troll.
"Oh, no! please don't eat me. I'm too little!" said the billy goat. "Wait for the second Billy Goat Gruff. He's much bigger."
"Well, be off with you," said the troll.
A little while later, the second Billy Goat Gruff crossed the bridge. "Trip, trap, trip, trap, trip, trap" went the bridge.
"Who's that tripping over my bridge?" roared the troll.
"I am the second Billy Goat Gruff, and I'm going up to the hillside to make myself fat," said the billy goat, with a medium voice.
"I'm coming to gobble you up," said the troll.
"Oh, no! Don't eat me. Wait for the last Billy Goat Gruff. He's much bigger."
"Very well! Be off with you," said the troll.
Next, the big Billy Goat Gruff crossed the bridge. "Trip, trap, trip, trap, trip, trap!" went the bridge. This billy goat was heavy and the bridge creaked and groaned under him.
"Who's that tramping over my bridge?" roared the troll.
"I am the big Billy Goat Gruff ," said the billy goat, with a big ugly voice.
"I 'm coming to gobble you up," roared the troll.
"No, you're not!" said the biggest Billy Goat Gruff. "I am bigger than you and I could crush you into bits and bones."
"No, you're not!" said the biggest Billy Goat Gruff. "I am bigger than you and I could crush you into bits and bones."
And when the troll saw how big the billy goat was, the troll let him pass. After that, the three billy goats went to the hillside. They got so fat they could hardly walk home. And if the fat hasn't fallen off, they're still fat; and so,
Snip, snap, snout. This tale's told out.
They are also just hungry.

La Belle et la Bête

Unfortunatly the troll or the beast is always doomed to lose. There are not many David and Goliat stories on this. That's why I like the beauty and the beast.

As long as it doesn't turn out as the Hunchback of Notre Dame, that's just sad.

"A troll is someone who intentionally causes discord, simply for their own amusement."

Often by employing gratuitous unpleasantness and insufferable condescension. Ignoring them is best.

Just delicious. And he had no idea. Just lovely.

However being provocative and showing up controversy alone is not being a troll. It fails the "simply for their own amusement" test which is subjective. It helps to know the person.

One thing I'm wondering about is why trolls are called trolls. Why not pidgeons? Crocodiles? Horses? Is there a specific reason to the name? Or is it just good because it goes along with "don't feed the troll"?

It need not be for their own amusement. Trolling can serve many purposes.

Ah yeah, didn't think of that at all. Seems logical. "Luring" reactions.

"Ha! This person just dropped some food off their boat without realising it! I'm going to go and eat that food, and make them look quite the fool."

I think it's because of this.
Thanks for the link, explains a lot.
To be effective, trolling baits and lures must have the visual ability to attract fish and intrigue them with the way they move through the water.[10] Most trolling lures are designed to look and behave like dying, injured, or fast moving fish.
So the fish goes after the injured? So trolls imitate the easy prey, and the fear is that you get eaten yourselves?

That seems a rational reaction, what devious creatures. I realise I may have taken this too lightly.

Trolls take on the form of a man and have intelligence unlike a crocodile.

Well done, ol' chap.

Sometimes the purpose of the troll is simply to point out that fish do in fact go for easy prey.
--
Please note that trolling is not internet bullying - trolling is a passive act, of luring in the fish and catching it when it comes bites. You might have a bit too much fun messing with the fish, but you don't pursue.

so sayeth the troll law.

The Three Billy Goats Gruff, is an ironic take on the matter ;)

So stalking is not trolling.

Correct.

Trolling is the act spreading disinformation with the intention to achieve some goal through the eliciting of personal reactions.

Note: reactions is in the accusative case.

I get billygoats and trolls confused.
I'm not really sure how/why other
than they both remind me of bridges.

When people post spoilers like the above, I
refuse to look at them because that shit
is fucking ridiculous.

Guess who's grouchy when she first awakes.

I could be wrong, but is this forum not the quintessential, troll hideout?

The only reason I troll is when you get those bitchy freaks that are always paroling the threads, enforcing site edicate, griping on people for swearing, and flipping shit on people for trolling. Its so fun to mess with them. And there are none of those people here.

i'm a prize in a cereal box near you, so buy, BUY,
trolls are easy to deal with just troll them back, since most rolls these days are stupid people who get a few friends together and "troll". they lack experience and wit therefore easy to counter troll.
