I guess this kind of ties in with the other thread I started about not having the witty gun out when it's needed, but I was thinking a lot about my thinking / learning / understanding style. I tend to do something like this;

memorize for the time being (to get by / fake understanding) = > internalize information = > subconsciously think about information & make novel connections = > unexpectedly pop out answer / solution.

Basically, I've gone through three years of an engineering program with the 'aha' moments of an art student.. it's not exactly useful for my pursuits (or my anything really), and I was wondering how I would rein in the intuitive / introverted thinking, like .. how do you make your brain internalize / subconsciously connect and expand things faster or just more readily? The eureka moments are euphoric, but I have to get stuff done in more realistic time frames ... :confused:

I too am in engineering and have a similar learning process i think. I don't think i've been learning it fast enough, I think I just needed to study a few more hours a week. I'm not used to studying because my learning style let me learn easily in high school with "Aha!" moments right when I needed them.

That's the problem. I don't know if it's an excess of sensory input, poor planning or the fact that I've finally reached my intellectual limit. I just can't get / control when I get those anymore... and I kinda need them. :o
