Was adding this to an old thread about scars, but then thought "fuck it", might as well make a TMI thread.

I've seen a number of the guys here sharing TMI stuff lately, so here's a thread for you!

And me! ;)

***

As far as scars are concerned, I just have the one on my nose from chicken pox, several on my hands and knuckles, but the worst one is now on my groin.

-_-

I hate it.

Apparently I was being less than careful whilst going through my grooming regime last year... developed a cyst right on the crease of my leg/groin.. typically ignored it (expecting it to clear up), and continued as normal (couldnt get any time off work at all anyway)

Next thing you know, within a couple of days I woke up in agony , the thing had ballooned into a huge abscess .. it was the most painful thing ever, and I couldn't fuckin walk.

Had to call my friends and they had to all but carry me to the docs.

Never had to get my flange out before, so that was a bit awkward for me...

Got a lecture off the docs about my grooming method being the least safe (most convenient tho)

Was sent off with some anti biotics and told to come back if it doesnt fix its self.

I was bed ridden for a day or two.

Then my mate who's a nurse took an interest, and offered to do the docs job for me.. now I'm usually really prude and reserved when it comes to my nether regions, but I was in so much pain all that went out the window and I was like "FUCK!! FIX ME!!"

She drained the abscess and patched me up but the actual healing took a few months due to where the wound was and the fact that every time I walked it would rip back open... short of using a wheelchair , there was no alternative .

Still couldn't get anytime off work, nor the sympathy which I thought I deserved. Work uniform was just awful. I should have quit that job then, in hind sight.

Anyway , the wound eventually closed, but now I have a horrible scar which is about an inch and a half long and half an inch wide.

I learned my lesson (sort of), I never ever want to go through that ever again, and certainly not down there !

I'm a bit conscious of it now because it's somewhat unsightly and just how awkward will it be if and when guys notice??

So far no one has said anything... but I'm waiting on the day.

On the subject of "flanges", I've now got to go for cervical cancer screening.. what exactly does that entail?

*Raises apprehensive eyebrow*

Was thinking of not going...

But apparently 1 in 2 Brits are going to get cancer at some point, that's a scary statistic isn't it?

I have a feeling that the big C might get me, simply because that's one of my worst fears, and in this life.. my worst fears tend to find their way into fruition.

I'm just too unlucky to die of an accidental OD or drowning in a pool of my own intoxicated vomit.

Scars?

WTH.

I have one on my lip from getting bit by a dog.

I have some scars on my elbows from a biking accident.

I have a scar on my upper forehead from "wrestling" with my ex.

I have one on my finger from when I was trying to fillet a fish for the first time.

I have one on my chin from not quite making it all the way around attempting a backflip on a diving board.

I have several on my knuckles from being a complete retard trying to grate cheese.

I think that is all of them.

That sounds horrible and painful, Sinny. You have my sympathies.
However, I love medical tmi. I shall assume this is a thread where anyone can share tmi. One of my favorite sites to waste time on is figure1. It's basically a site for medical professionals and students to upload anything of interest or to ask for help in treatment or diagnosis. Naturally a lot of it is horrific (but interesting!) tmi.

Earlier today a patient had about a third of his face removed and sitting in a tray (hemi-mandibulectomy due to cancer); from eyeball to top row of teeth. It's a very surreal image imo, but don't click it if you're squeamish. I also watch the occasional surgery and, damn, they are terrifyingly brutal. :phear:

I have no medical training whatsoever, but I find this kind of thing fascinating. I like being forcibly reminded of the... mechanical and visceral nature of the human body and brain. We wander around in little fragile shells, assuming they'll run forever on magic; even those of us with strictly a empirical mindset are guilty of that. It may not be sad... but it is strange to me that we are so divorced from our physical nature.

It also makes me appreciate being fairly healthy. It's an easy thing to take for granted.

I've heard about cysts like that before. Crazy that that happens and also dangerous.

Now that I think about it, I've heard there are lots of things you can do for scars. I don't know if these work, but I've heard DMSO, castor oil, and derma needling can all help get rid of scars.

I tried derma needling but I only did it twice and didn't see much of a difference. You're supposed to do it many times over months. It can also hurt like hell depending on the area.

Do most people in the UK use inches over centimeters? I always thought you guys used the metric system.

A lot of people I know are into watching spot popping, totally gross but totally interesting! Lol

Surgery just ews me out... I thought I had a strong stomach when I was younger, but apparently I'm weak as fuck... could not do what the docs and surgeons do, nuhh ugh.

Rotten.com used to be my go to site for all things gore. I quit that habit after seeing what boiled human looked like.

Anyone here seen three men and a hammer? I couldnt sit through all of that either.

**My grandads measures used centimetres and inches, I use whatever depending on whatever :)

And yea, it's a good job that I was in so much pain, otherwise I truly would have just cleaned myself up and ingored the serious side.

My aunt passed away from septicaemia this year, resulting from similar cyst in a similar spot to what I had... sure drives shit home.. I thought it was an odd twist of fate.

Not my thing, personally, but bring on the horrific parasitic infections.
It's no wonder I have so many nightmares. :D

Visually I could stand it, but I know the smell would get to me something fierce.
I can't deal with animal processing though. I guess knowing the medical stuff is actually the patient getting helped in some way; treated or diagnosed, makes a difference for me. Even if treatment fails, it educates people for the betterment of medical science and humanity as a whole. I like to think it comes from an inherently altruistic place. The stuff we do to animals though... brrrr.... I can't bear it. It feels pointlessly monstrous.

I typically don't look for or want to see depictions of human violence either. Though, it is important to stay informed when it's committed by governments or large groups.

Well, sinny, you could always get a tattoo, if I understand your anatomical euphemisms. And there is a thought, perhaps consoling, perhaps not, that by the time guys get to the point where such things are visible, their ability to absorb details, along with their judgment, is usually long gone.....

Wow. The thing is, the doctor can get as mad as he wants, but unless people are actually taught proper grooming techniques, they aren't going to know them. The problem is that many parents/caretakers believe their job is done in that respect once a child is potty-trained. I was lucky enough to have an elementary school that actually worked hygiene (gender-based and general) into the curriculum every year. I doubt that would fly with modern my-baby-is-perfect-and-so-am-I parents.

Well, that seems to hold true thus far. Although, I don't think scar tissue is the best tissue to tatt.

Aye Yellow, aye... perhaps.

"Mom! Tis all your fault that I'm too heavy handed with the razors!"

Lol.

She'd call me fuckin eejit, and tell me to switch to Nair.. Messy business that cream tho, I'm more of a "bish bash bosh, shave it off!" sorta girl.

Nair doesn't work 100%, and it burns on certain bodily surfaces.

Although, few things are more painful than DIY electric hair removal, which requires you pluck the hairs afterward. It's not supposed to hurt because you electrocuted the follicles (which also hurts/burns), but it does.

Either way, you're stuck looking like you have the mange.
