I'm really a net addict and I'm shocked every time I ask myself this question.

Same. Even if I'm not doing anything on the computer - I read in my computer chair, I watch TV in my computer chair (granted, most of the shows I watch are on my computer), I eat in my computer chair, I do my homework in my computer chair etc.

I would just change one thing: If I'm at home I am in front of it - going out is about the only time I'm not.

Also dangerous with a laptop as it allows for more portability.
These days I I can't even eat without starting a youtube vid, looking at a documentary etc.
Sometimes I'll even bring the laptop with me to the bathroom. Something says to me that I'm not alone in that venture though

On the flip side, I wouldn't really know as much as I do now. Perhaps I would have had greater life experience though.. and social experience.. more friends? perhaps I would be a dad? Perhaps the mother of my child would have ran off already leaving me only with child support to speak of and working long hours to make everything go around?

I always go the extreme minimalism route. I'd probably be farming, living in some fashion like that off the land, and probably meet a girl that, due to there not really being much else available, we'd end up getting married and having a family, and continue working to live, living to work, kind of thing, to self-sustain.

It also probably wouldn't be happy existence, just a busy one.

So is the poll just based on web surfing? I have 1 uber desktop, 1 laptop, 1 netbook. (And another laptop for work). So besides surfing the web, I game, I program (for fun), post process pictures for my photography. My laptop is mainly connected to the projector for movies, my netbook is used EVERYWHERE, when Im on the plane and in airports and trains Im usually reading downloaded blogs, listening podcasts, programming - all on my netbook. My desktop is used for all of that and anything else I didnt cover. I do a lot of surfing, youtube etc, but its not only surfing, its ANYTHING a computer can do, and I always do it on Linux. Why make life easy. So Im a healthy mix of laziness and productivity.

And yes, I usually grab the netbook and go to the toilet and check up on my RSS feeds.

The computer is just after I wake up, about 10am until I go to bed around 2am the next day. And I can be doing some/any/all of the above at any one time. Without at least 1 computer and a solid internet connection, I'm lost.

And note, this is all for fun. Work is another issue entirely.

For me it ends up like a cycle. Let's say I log in, find a test. That test is about warriors, that reminds me of a game, and I got after the game. While i'm playing, I start to wonder how would a leader behave at a given diplomatic situation, and go read something about diplomacy at wikipedia. I then find something about weapons, that leads me to physics, and I get caught up for a good time. Then i remember that physics required logic to be forged. Logic is the trademark of thinking types, and then come back to INTPf.

Then i just do it again, with differents subjects.

I do not know for sure how badly it affects eyesite.

There is a program though that can help. It's called Flux. It changes the brightness of your computer screen so that uhhh it naturally fluctuates with the natural light cycle of your time zone.

1-2, although I put 2-3 because I may be inaccurate. I have a pretty demanding schedule, but I like to pop on between classes and rugby and frat stuff to update my posts here, check my email and facebook, or for the occasional internet porn wank if need be.

Usually around the end of the night I will use the internet to watch a movie, so I counted that time as well. I didn't count time that I spend doing something else with my computer still open, as it wouldn't be if not for the necessity to check my email all the time for class and group project updates. Sometimes I cheat and also leave my facebook up in case anyone fancies a chat, but unless it is a person I like I will tell them I am busy.

I feel as though we probably all spend a lot more time on the computer than we think. I know I myself originally only included the time I spent when it was in solid, tangible chunks, ignoring the time I spent logging on quickly to check things, checking up on my team, looking at my bank info, downloading a song, etc. All that time adds up too.

For those looking for eyesight help, I got the straight story from my optometrist. Get +1 diopter glasses for the computer. If you don't wear glasses then get +1 reading glasses from any pharmacy. If you have a prescription, say -4, then get a pair (such as from www.zennioptical.com) set at -3. These glasses are only to be used at the computer, away from it things in the distance look blurry (it's not legal to wear them driving for instance).

What the +1 does is put the screen at infinity, so your focusing muscles don't have to work (i.e. they are at rest.) Necessary for me as my older eyes are having trouble close focusing.

In addition you can get anti-glare and a slight tint (10%) which helps also.

My life basically revolves around my computer station. It's the last place I'm at before I hop into bed and usually the first place I go to when I wake up. I utilize Facebook or Omegle to sustain my social needs but otherwise just sort of zone out and browse around or play some game. The only time I would be elsewhere would be if I was going to some social outing or going to school. The computer of course is the first thing I get to when I return home, though.

I'd definitely consider myself addicted, it'd be silly of me to deny that. However I feel it's sort of a way to kill time since there aren't any immediate things that could otherwise occupy my time. This is sort of an illusion, though, since there's always some plan/homework of mine that I SHOULD do, I just manage to get it out of my mind until I realize at the last minute.
