I just wanted to say hey, and introduce myself after lurking for a while. I remember the relief after taking my first MBTI online, typing INTP and reading the description and finding this forum. I had never met many people like me. I've taken a few other online tests, and typed INTP or INTJ on all of them. Someday I'm sure I'll have an "omg what type am I really?" thread.

I'm a first year medical student in the Los Angeles area, and am loving the systems within systems that give rise to this crazy human system. As a 28 year old, I'm a few years older than most people in my class, and I'm not loving the cliquey (sp?) high school vibe. I'm getting into bioinformatics and genetics right now, and I'm sure I'll have some programming questions for the knowledgeable people in this forum.

Anyway, thanks for the great forum and I look forward to participating in more conversations with everyone.

Welcome, sir/miss.

I have always viewed bioinformatics as an almost perfect subject for INTPs, so I think that was a good choice.

What did you do before these studies?

I know that feel bro. I'm also starting studies in medicine at my 24, kind of weird, I have to admit I feel terrified every time I go to the campus, so full of people, younger weird people...
How do you feel about it? It's a new challenge, I doubted so much before taking a step into it. Will it worth it?
Ah... And I'm new around here too, but welcome :)

Before this I was in a post-bacc program to get my pre-med requirements done (some great basic science variety there). Before that I was in the Navy as a nuclear reactor mechanic (great people, hated the Navy though). I joined to get some discipline in my life, which was effective, but after I learned what I needed it was pretty depressing.

Before that, I was a lost boy in college, and then I transferred and was a lost boy with close friends from high school. I drank a lot, and graduated with a degree in English (finding a theme that traverses a novel is great, justifying my thought process not so pleasant).

As for med school, emmabobary, I'm liking it so far. There's a ton of new information to learn, and so many possible routes to explore. I learned a while ago that I need someone on my case to actually get things done, even though it feels terrible to be controlled in anyway. So the structure of med school is great for my productivity.
