I fuckin hate football (or "soccer" for you US-people). People just start talking to you about football and just assume that you are interested. Please, before talking to me about football, ask me if I am actually interested in some idiots running around on a grass field hunting a leather ball.

The times that I admired football and rugby were when I was drunk in bars on a tropical island.

Lying on a couch while sloshed and watching humans run hither and thither is really entertaining, a futile sport of ants that keeps the eyes busy.

The commentators also sound quite hilarious when one is drunk, so serious about their ball fetish they are, the little scamps.

I used to like football a lot, it all began with france 1998 world cup but my drive for it ended up in 2006 or so, perhaps cuz i was pretty bad playing it, i joined an amateur club and they didn't let me go up in category, i could only play with guys younger than me, i saw how most of my teamates escalated in the team while i and some other loosers were delayed and delayed :D, so sad, i should cry or something.
Today for example, spain played its first eurocup match and i saw the news like 3 hours after the match and i was like ok... how i don't notice of these things anymore?
my town's week of celebration (some public parties in memory of some saint) ended today and there are fireworks and that's how i'm finding out there was a party going on.
i don't know how i'm going to survive 15 years more, really.

I have always disliked most team sports but am becoming increasingly interested in the types of betting that it attracts. I want to learn more but don't want to get bogged down in the relevant details of the sports that a 'serious' sports better should pay attention to.

Oh and the euro's has started... Which means the guys where I'm staying are streaming the games in early hours slowing the WiFi to worse extents than usual... I shouldn't live with British people in this time zone...

was relieved to see that my presumptive new boss is a gay man (i'm supposed to start later this month, pretty excited)...

because i could tell from talking to him over the phone that he's super white, and if he weren't gay he would just be a super white, straight guy...

and unfortunately the trend (in my life) is for super-white, straight dudes to subtly to not-so-subtly put you down/proclaim the superiority of the white race and of hetero-ness near-constantly...

i have been around that shit all my life and it is fucking retarded/exhausting...

seriously, go suck a dick if you're one of those people (women included)

Well, I just finished consuming more than a pint of Hershey's Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream. I am now a typical American glutton feeling quite content and satisfied. It is not something I would recommend every day or even every month, but I understand how easily someone could worship food as a means to attaining happiness in life. It would not make for a productive and virulent life, that's for sure.

Why do i bounce back to herb when i am and feel so much better without? There's something beautifully pure about the persistence of habit despite complete absence of rationalization. Maybe that in itself is a rationalization. Maybe i'm jammed up in mindfuck trickery.

I'm taking a communications class and the prof early on revealed herself to be a face-palming misandrist, it's makes the class so damn awkward because it's really obvious. Then she drops a bomb that she was violated as a child and I just didn't know how to feel. It's like you can tell the stress and damage it caused her but she turned out to be a strong person, if not a little crazy.

The other thing about the class is we had to take MBTI tests and one person scored ESFJ, before we even took the test this same person was constantly saying what I was thinking, picking choices I was ready to choose, had longings similar to mine, and I instantly found her the most attractive.

How's your class make-up? NT's, NF's, SJ's and so on. I've made a chart detailing people by their types and tried to rationalize why certain people clung with who and so on. It's interesting how social groups form within settings like these. Probably not the best use of your time but it's really interesting trying to guess.

I don't think she's really ESFJ, just like I'm not the INTP that I scored myself. I just thought it was slightly ironic. :) Actually she reminds me of a TV/movie character that I can't put my finger on, but I would say she's speaks kinda fast almost in a rambling fashion but not quite and it lets some of her true thoughts come through in an unapologetic way. She's also outgoing, and perhaps slightly neurotic. The stuff we matched on relates to themes like in Twin Peaks and Seattle, iirc her favorite book is gone girl.

I didn't really pay attention to the types that were called out(the class is about 25-35 people), plus some people didn't report their scores yet. A guy scored INTJ who except for being much more driven about his career ambitions is into gaming and computers like me. I sit with a guy who's into games and stocks.

Why don't we all just once and for all agree that we are a bunch of clueless apes?

I am curious about what it is that keeps all the savages out there so proud and serious.

i should quit but i'm so bored lately that i just pick up another one

Can you replace the cigarette habit with a different, cheaper, less destructive one? I know that fighting a sweet tooth is not as difficult as what you're going through, but boredom and wanting stimulation is an underlying factor for both. In my case, I found that eating tangerines or grapefruit was often a better habit than eating cookies, chocolate, pie, ice cream, etc. The fruits are still sweet, I'm still getting some sugar, but it's not nearly as much sugar as the dessert items. And eating something, relieves the "I'm bored, I need stimulation" problem.

Thinking of which, I think I'll eat my last grapefruit in the cooler tonight, and buy more tomorrow.

'Cuz we're not? What if you're just speaking for yourself + some people you think are similar?

"Savage" is a historical term of disparagement and prejudice. I don't see much value in inserting it as a label into your thought. Removing it, one is left with "what it is that keeps all the people out there so proud and serious." Well that's an interesting question. What makes people either proud or serious?

I'm doubting it. You talk about "clueless apes", but I'm inclined to notice the human advancement of frontiers of knowledge. And I think such advancement would be inevitable with any sufficiently complex computational device. The sticking point seems to be, how much the brains of the general population are moved forwards over time. This has to do with their environmental conditions / resource arrangements. It's not difficult to be a xenophobic bigot when a tiny ruling elite controls most of the world's wealth, for instance.

I'm getting to know this cat, he is sounding like an aeroplane and pushing himself against me, but he also seems pretty guarded and scared of my jerky movements. Is he just making me his bitch? Is he feeling me out? Is it fearful compliance? What's going on? How do i start being total bros with him? I need to get along with this cat, for all sorts of reasons.

Anyone know about cats?

I completely concur. Science and technology develop at a much faster rhythm than human culture. Actually, the world is morally and intellectually in retrograde. I am thankful for INTP forum, because there will always be a few people who don't want to crawl back to the 19th century armed with 21st century weaponry, like the rest of them.:)

What you do is feel him out in reciprocation and always look into his / her eyes without intimidation. Just let him / her know that you are there.

The secret to losing weight, learning to like feeling hungry.

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6709791

I love feeling hungry(not to the point of true pain but to the point of fasting or not eating for a day or two.) It brings my brain into overdrive and brightens things up.

If I am eating to much it's a clear sign of me not wanting to have to think(which has been true for the past half year or so) or alternatively wanting to try and get productive work done since it does nothing to make me wanna work.

If you try this out make sure to combine it with vitamin pills and lots of water, also it takes some time of discomfort before it becomes comfortable.

The way it's worded sounds like bulimia/anorexia acceptance.

Water should be good enough, a gallon a day is probably optimal. If you're still hungry you can spread out your meals/calorie intake for several small courses and engage in light tasks that demand absorption, preferably physical ones like walking or dancing.

Wasn't really meant that way(from my side anyway) or really have much to do with weight loss in general, the first sentence was more of a humourous tangent/side effect.

I am more interested in the mental effects from slight/moderate hunger, which I personally find to have some positive effects.

The most depressing place on the internet I have visited was a "juridics" subsection of a big messaging board. The callousness and hopelessness of that place was palatable. In most other sections of the Internet you would at least be met by some form comfort/reassurances/suggestions in the face of a problem.

That place consisted more of accusations and cold explanations about how fucked you are than anything else, coupled with a total disregard for the recipient. Sizeable amounts of the situations I read about also tore on my sensibilities so that may have contributed to my assessment. Juridics are brutal. All in all it's still a fascinating environment, I should explore it more often.

Videos in general are just to slow for my taste. Like, I can't stand documentaries/informative videos because they speak many times slower than my brain can process the information they give.

Even in regards to TV shows/movies you usually won't find me watching them on less than 1.2 speed along with constantly skipping 1-3 seconds ahead because I have already processed everything they were going to do/say.

Reading is so much better, there I can process things at a proper pace.

i'm applying to a lot of jobs i don't actually want.

i don't mean that they suck---they offer lots of opportunities for $$$ and advancement.

i just can't deal with that much responsibility, stress, and teamwork because i'm too sensitive to stimuli and get overwhelmed too easily. i'm also a very independent thinker. the idea of having to collaborate with other people, them expecting me to produce ideas, sitting around a table in a large group and having to chime in on discussions, having to be not only around them but with them in an office all day makes me nauseous just thinking about it.

i've been able to score some pretty independent jobs in the last 6 months where i can just go in and do my own thing, despite there being lots of people around...but then the busy season ended.

i don't really care about pay that much, i just want to feel OK.

if i could find some really independent work, like just editing word documents (which i'm really good at) on my computer, that would be sweet. i'll try harder for that i guess...

It always annoys me when I can think of a word in Swedish but can't figure it out in English. I am quiet fine with the opposite though(something that's far more common). I really do have a hard on for English huh. In this case I couldn't figure out what a hula-hoop was called(its called "rockring" in Swedish).

I quiet enjoy dancing while randomly twirling around with a hula-hoop on my arms. If nothing else it looks cool(to me anyways) and it's fun.

On second thought, I think I much prefer the Swedish name in this case.

I need to draw a cabin. I already got the cabin in store, and older drawings. But as I want some changes, and improvements I figured it would be easiest to present new drawings to the authorities.

I can do this parametric. That will also have the benefit that I can detail most anything, and stress test stuff as roof beams.

However, that's going to take some time. So are there easier ways to do this? I've searched around a bit for easy home design software. I am unsure if I can custom design stuff in those. Like specific profiles on the timber, and custom cut vertical logs that connect walls.

I think doing this parametric is the way to go, and putting this out there before I start, in case I am wrong.
