see, this is why i decided to ditch the art industry.

no matter how talented you are, you are a no-body unless you know someone in the industry.

all they do is create an "art piece" then right bull shits about it.

then sell it.

well, off not everyone can do that cause not everyone has connections with the art industry.

fuck those people.

Smells like money.

Someone owed $4.3 million to someone.

Just speculating.

Although, I must admit, I am one of those who get fixated on very very simple art. Like Alexander Calder Two Spiral.

Just that. I just saw it and made it my avatar everywhere. Then I stopped.

Yeah, art + industry = bullshit IMO!

You can also see it in the music industry... money corrupts...

Professional art has always catered to the wealthy. I guess that is rather ironic, for people expound the virtues of artistic freedom expression but those artists who are financially successful are often little more than prostitutes who service a wealthy clientele. I have a number of very good artists as facebook friends, but none can make a living at it, except as Art teachers.

IMO, their work is far superior to that sold for 6 or 7 figures. Crud! Even though I've millions of views of my own work, no one (except for one individual) has requested a print. The image of a starving artist is more than a stereotype and I wold guess perhaps only one in a thousand artists make enough from their art work to stay alive.

Once I had a concert and we played with a french band. They told me that in France artists get a small wage and also expenses if they do it on a regular basis. Does anybody of you know more about this? It sounded really interesting to me and seems to help artists which wouldn't have a chance otherwise. I mean, they do a great work for society, why shouldn't they be payed.
What do you think about that?
