I'm normally apolitical but given the extraordinary nature of this US election took up studying it deeply as I could as a once in a lifetime event. I did make the vow that once it was over I would get out, and now is the time and my public declaration of such. I'm going back to my navel gazing and not following the news, anybody else is welcome to join me.

So instead am doing some fun computing stuff. I got a book from the library on a history of computing, full of big pictures and few words. Relaxing ... also am tying together those years I spent studying physics with computers, and am going through a textbook on quantum computing. Pretty easy, it's all cast in bra-ket vector notation so the CS guys can handle it, which makes it all pretty easy. Neat to be getting back into QM though.

Otherwise working on weight lifting, along with taking a regular walk in the evening with my honey.

I'm out of the domestic discourse as well. The outer geopolitical implications are what's important to me. The Americans have made their choice, so it's something that they'll have to work out on their own.

It's ironic though, I was very much into the electoral, primary season, while most of my friends weren't, but now it's the opposite, with most people posting their regret or anger or some otherwise emotion. I guess I just have a weird affinity to authority.

Yeah, there's implications for us all, but I have no control over it anymore, so hit the exits.

No it makes sense. What mattered was being involved before the election, now afterwards this is little anybody can do, other then make real contributions in doing our thing.

Wise words. Things which are outside your control should be let alone. I have left the cult of politics a while back.

I normally don't pay much attention unless I see something and it makes me wonder about what's going on.

But this election, as well as president-elect is so atypical, I want to follow it for awhile after inauguration to see what actually happens. After the first year though, it probably become same old again, but with a republican agenda instead.

Hopefully and what I am happy about is that Trump seems keen on amping up our country's internal production and helping to balance our trade deficit. It'll be interesting to see if this happens.

There will always be damage control. I have somewhat seriously considering how to contribute to creating a better government and such after I ferment my views a bit better, but i really don't know how to. I am in Tennessee, so resistance to anything not far right seems almost futile around here.

I'm just the typical INTP/person that researches but never acts and casts a meaningless vote. That is not the answer.

With your expertise in your profession, could you not do greater good for the world by getting involved with political (or charity, or whatever) causes? A successful democracy relies on intelligent people contributing, not just desperate mobs and monied interests.

Trump seems keen on destroying our capital account surplus.
