How the heaven does this movie have a 9.7 rating? IMHO, it's just as if sony dropped millions of dollars just to make caricature of one person. It baffles me. Why go through all the trouble? I see a lot of conspiracy theories on this one.

The outpouring of public support came straight from the dank internet dungeon of 4chan’s TV discussion message board, on which an anonymous user posted a thread on December 19th encouraging people to rate the movie a 10 so that North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un can get “FUCKED BY THE LONG DICK OF FREEDOM,” as the original post suggests.

The first IMDb reviews for The Interview coincide with the thread’s posting, and a subsequent thread in the 4chan subreddit on Reddit credits a “raid”—a beautiful and terrifying internet phenomenon in which users of a particular site invade another—for the film’s high rating.

In short, a bunch of 4chan users trolled The Interview’s IMDb page for freedom.

After the media the interview has recieved i expected a thread about it to pop up. But in any case i believe its one of the first movies to get a 10/10 (im sure it was at one point) and no one had even seen it. Cheers EyeSeeCold it explains alot.

Have any of the american users seen it yet?

It looks like bad slapstick and cheap shots at a fish-in-the-barrel clown-dictator-for-life. If SONY hadn't been hacked, and if everyone hadn't blamed North Korea for doing it, this movie would have been 'loser' all the way. I'm thinking any time you combine political assassination with comedy, you've taken the concept of comic incongruity all wrong.

The cynic's position when seeking motive in mysterious things ultimately involving power or money is "Who benefits?" So here we have two things: A mediocre movie gets a box office megaboost, and the U.S. gets moral justification for screwing up North Korea's computers. We all know they got hit with loss of service attacks. My guess is that under cover of that, we probably screwed up some of their targeting software for aircraft or missiles or did something else that will tie them in knots if they misbehave with weaponry. We could make a movie out of THAT scenario. I think someone already did: Wag the Dog? Was that what it was called?

International relations are universally run by schizophrenic paranoids.

How do we get a peace loving population to watch a propaganda movie that involves a rather unprovoked violent take over? We allow/encourage them to pirate/legally download it.

I used the movie to test tribler, a torrent client that can use a tor network to connect, so it should be anonymous. It's super slow, due to a lack of users, but it's possible to download the ~3GB file within a day, which is okay, i mean you can only watch so much movies in a day. I aborted and ended up watching a different copy though.

The movie was endurable, but i'm not even going to contribute to the long dick of freedom by giving it a good rating.

Yeah Seth Rogen is one of my favorites in the film industry, but there is clearly a lot of sham surrounding the movie. I'm not even discounting the likelihood of astroturfing on 4chan/reddit, people en masse don't see how such ridicule of a nation can be used to justify and whitewash controversial events.

Operation Desert Fox was a similar event that involved double motives and a media scandal(Clinton impeachment/Lewinsky affair).
