People seek potential.
Potential is however always merely abstract value until the moment that potential turns into actual value.
That is why actual value is often more important than possible potential, but it is important to seek potential, but being perfect does not exist, until you have some frame of reference know what you really want which arguably be the real meaning of life.
Good looking people are usually also healthy hence why we like good looking people and value them. The way we value them differs from culture to culture, but they represent potential. Good looking men are those that can have the sperm with healthy genes and good looking females are the ones that have the ability to have the healthy children and this is primiarily decided by evolution.
Intelligence is considered important, because we live in a world where intelligence is the potential to solve complicated problems. Of course the only intelligence that matters in the end is the one that does solve the problems not the one we talk about or look for, but the actual ability to help yourself and others.
Social skills worth nothing if it means you end being a cult leader and suiciding everyone although maybe everyone for brief moment might be happy, but they do mean a lot if it means you can pull people towards better life.
So overall there are million things we tend to value and think are perfect, but they are really going to be of real life value if they help you or people.
So for example some people might not be the most handsome, but they actually might not end up having liver cancer and be healthy all their life.
There might be people who are not that smart, but they master some skill and in life create a value and help so many people.
There are people who might not be well liked or popular, or perfect people, but actually help build a better community, even though we might idolize people who never did anything for us ever.
