I thought I would inform you all to my most recent research in to the effect of music on the brain.
In fact I strongly recommend carrying out this experiment yourself to observe it's effectiveness.

Equipment
1. A living chicken, don't do this at the supermarket you will get some very strange looks.
2. Two hands
3. An Ipod
4. A load dubstep bass drop (recommended: Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites - Skrillex)

Step 1
Select your subject and approach quietly.
Step 2
Quickly jump out and grab the chicken. The chicken will be still as is somewhat shocked.
Step 3
Place earphones close to the chicken's ears.
Step 4
Wait for the bass drop
Step 5
Observe in amusement

FACT

Dubstep scares chickens.

I think VII likes Dubstep.

Weighing in on the issue myself, there's a lot of crap Dubstep, likely because if you have mixing equipment it can be he easiest sort of music to make, but that doesn't mean all of it is crap, when it's not too repetitive (which I know is kind of like saying "when Dubstep's not Dubstep") it can be the perfect sort of music for working out or doing anything high energy and focus intensive.

But hey what do I know? I like Vocaloid music and if you can learn to like J-Pop, let alone synthesized J-Pop, then you can learn to like anything, or you've simply got no taste.

Redbaron: They rock out to the funk because they are funky chickens!

Cognisant: Yeah I do like dubstep but only a select few, that vast majority are just so darn repititive and lacking any of that magic of music.
Making a crappy peice of dubstep is worryingly easy but making a good dubstep track is actually one of the hardest things to embark on when producing music. Extremely complicated, time consuming and frustrating.
Trust me I should know :o

I enjoy follow dubstep because I think the next big genre is going to evolve from the roots of electronic/glitch/dubstep.

And in relation to J-pop I have one word to say to you and that's Gangnam Style!
Check out Continued Story by Hitomi Kurioshi, breathtaking song.

Vocaloids, they're huge in Asia, particularly Japan, like Gorillaz they're virtual pop stars except unlike Gorillaz they're not just the characterized avatars of real singers, they're based on software that synthesizes a singing voice, more or less.

Miku's iconic high pitched voice is beyond the range of all but the most specialized vocalists, she can belt it out indefinitely, and she can go through lyrics that would have a human singer breathing like a hummingbird, the results can be truly unique.

Of course like Dubstep the availability of this software means there's a lot of lesser grade music, but if you take the time to look around you're almost certain to find a song or two you like, unlike a human singer the vocaloids have thousands if not tens of thousands of people creating songs for them, the most popular of which are collated into albums and sold alongside the works of regular musicians.
