Okay someone else posted this link already but I just went threw and read all of his articles.

Strictly speaking I found his insights about the pitfalls and the Bind-spots on INTP-dom incredibly enlightening.

The most interesting Chapter "CHAPTER 4 - BUSTING THE MYTH THAT INTPs ARE NOT EMOTIONAL"

As a child I was very prone to emotional outbursts. I assumed that my uncomfortableness about my extreme emotions lead me into my analysis leading down to becoming the INTP that I am today. However, he points out the extreme emotions may have very well been caused by the same personality combination (INTP) as my analysis skills.k

I Think "
CHAPTER 5-YOUNG ADULTHOOD AND THE FIX-IT STAGE" Would be particularly enlightening for some of our younger members like Daxwing and Own8ge. I could relate to his interpretation of of the confident INTP Fix-It Stage-r when I was in my early 20's

lol.

I agree with the premise of the OP regarding INTP issues in development. The truth is that people are emotional, and INTPs are people. [Theoretically, if the "robot" angle is never conclusively proven. <-- joke. Laugh] But emotions are uncomfortable and untrustworthy for INTPs, so therefore other processes and behaviors develop in order to minimize that discomfort and find other ways to deal with conflict and problems.

But really, don't be calling out specific members unless you plan to get a lot of personal pushback. I'd be VERY surprised if you thought from past experience here that you believed this would work out in a positive way.

(On the other hand, it was a beautiful expose on "The Darker Side of INTP." Or whatever type people are.)

I don't know that it's much of a myth. Especially with Fe in the inferior INTP's are especially prone to uncontrollable outbursts.

True, I am a bit suck in my own understanding. Personally, I don't get offend when people say my name. I relate to all of these articles very well and I thought they may gain some enlightenment from them as I did.

Like the author of the text stated I fell into the trap of believing that everyone else thinks the same way I do. If someone had mentioning an article and said hay chad you should read this I would. If I liked it I would say I liked it and if I believed it didn't relate to me I would say that too. No need to get upset about it. Its was only there/my opinion.

"Hey, INTP Forum, I found this great article about "Cluelessness in Relating to Human Beings," and I thought of Chad because he could really use this."

How would you feel, especially if you thought you were doing just fine? And if it was someone you didn't particularly like or who you thought didn't like you?

Anyway, like Architect notes, the dreaded "Fe outburst" is pretty demonstrable in INTPs, especially when younger. The problem is that the type is uneducated in how to deal with emotions or finds it uncomfortable, so the natural strategy is to suppress, sidestep, or ignore them... but eventually there will likely be an event that cannot be ignored that will trigger a "vent" of the suppressed emotion. At that point, especially when it reoccurs, the INTP will realize suppression might not be the best strategy and can start working through the discomfort to develop other resolutions.

Basically, it's the natural "vent point" of the type's strategy.

I don't know that it's much of a myth. Especially with Fe in the inferior INTP's are especially prone to uncontrollable outbursts.

I can relate form the standpoint of a child to having many uncontrollable outbursts. Once I got upset at my teachers so I lifted my desk up and threw it at her. I don't remember much of this time as a child. I just know that I was angry a lot.

I assumed that this frustration and anger actually made me into a person that subdues my emotions with logical reasoning however, after reading this article I am more open to the idea that my inquisitive nature actually was behind my emotional outbursts as a child and as I grew and matured my natural tendency was to subdue my emotions with my own brand of logic.

This was actually the primary reason I disagree with the genetic predisposition to personality types. I still have other reasons. However, I assumed possible incorrectly that since my emotions use to be uncontrollable I must have been a different personality type back then. However, know I am most defiantly in control of my emotional state and I relate to 90% of the INTP archetype and cognitive functions.

My falls assumption what that I was acting out two completely different. personality types therefore the second one was a choice because I didn't like my first personalty type. However, after reading this article and his arguments I may have to adjust my opinions. This is why I suggested the link. I found it very enlightening.

Maybe, I am the only one that found this information new. Any how it answered some questions and droughts I had about my own personality.

I found the rest of the articles very interesting as well. Namely because he is much better at putting ideas into words then I am. Most of the article deal with life lessons that I already understand at least somewhat. However, Chapter 4 was almost completely new information for me.

P.S. I still don't know if I buy the idea of a genetic background for personality types but this article eliminated the own personal reason for not buying it.

Some other reasons are
-Identical twins can have two different personality types.
-Psychologically speaking ones environment still has a lot of effect on how you make future life choices. It still appears of me that some of this would be incorporated with personalty development in early childhood. 0-3 years of age.

Dully noted,

As a matter of fact I don't dislike anyone here. I don't agree with a lot of people (actually everyone because I have my own opinion despite anyone else's opinions if we match on anything it purely coincidence that we are both happen to be at the same stage of seeking truth at the moment.)

I do see your point.

One question for your and Own8ge if he wishes to respond, was the title of the article I mentioned insulting? Basically I am asking because, I didn't see it that way and I know that I can be oblivious to this type of thing sometimes. If this is the case I am sorry I true meant no offense.

Identical twins can have two different personality types.

Well, identical twins don't even look identical as they get older.

And it's commonly accepted that genetics are not totally dominating -- genetics create predispositions for people to develop a certain way, but the environment will help determine the outcome of the genetic potential, depending on the trait in question. A particular set of coping mechanisms might not change at their most basic, but the degree to which they develop will depend on environment, so that you'll get all levels across a continuum.

One way in which identical twins are NOT identical is that they are not their identical twin. Twins usually develop some kind of dynamic between themselves in order to differentiate themselves (in the process of developing a unique identity), which then accentuates itself over time and repeated circumstances.

I think it could be taken that way, but I can't speak for Own8ge; from my perspective, it's more a contextual thing.

This is basically what I believe as well. I understand the idea of genetic predisposition. I can buy that quite easily. I just don't agree that it the only factor. I am glade we agree on this.

Holy crap, you mentioned people by name, thinking they'd find something interesting! You're a terrible person and my emotional outburst is entirely justified!
