Alright, here goes. Please tell me any suggestions you have, as this is my first go at doing something like this.
Chapter 1: Sergeant Pepper and the Lonely Hearts Club
"...a cursed swordsman, an explosives nut, and a thief?" Sergeant Pepper laughed to himself at the mere thought of such a team. "Well, I suppose that this isn't the army, is it?" Sergeant Pepper stroked his flowing white moustache thoughtfully. "They may be just what we need, though. Very well - send them in."
The three newest members of the Agency stood before him shortly; indeed, they certainly were not the typical recruits that he had come to expect. No - they were far different...and because of that, of great use to the Agency.
"Of course, all three of you have had run-ins with the supernatural - which is how you came to be here today. After reading through your dossiers -" he motioned his hand towards a group of folders on his table "- I have decided to formulate a team out of the three of you. It would seem as if none of you can currently 'fit' into society, or perhaps, any other team we have at the Agency. That is why you will work together - as the newly formed Lonely Hearts Club."
"For your first assignment, I would like you to investigate the death of Sir David Thornton - he was the mayor of Bradbury, a small village located in Dartmoor, the county of Devon. The circumstances of his death seem rather suspicious - he was found dead in his room with no sign of forcible entry, and a look of terror upon his face. The Agency suspects that FESTA was involved; nothing more is known, however. You will take a train to Bradbury to learn more, and if possible, thwart any of FESTA's plans. I have provided each of you with a watch communicator which I can use to contact you at any time. Good luck, and God bless."
-------------------------------------------------------
The Lonely Hearts Club is sitting in a compartment on the train to Bradbury - the other compartments are empty save for one young couple returning from London, and an old man. Things are fairly monotonous - there is nothing to see outside the window except for the endless greys of the rocky, desolate moors. Half an hour into the ride, however...that's when things get interesting. The train grinds to a screeching halt, and the lights are cut. There is a blood-curdling scream from one of the other compartments - after which there is no sound but the dropping of the rain against the train's window. The members of the Lonely Hearts Club look at each other...what do they do?
