Alright, here goes. Please tell me any suggestions you have, as this is my first go at doing something like this.

Chapter 1: Sergeant Pepper and the Lonely Hearts Club

"...a cursed swordsman, an explosives nut, and a thief?" Sergeant Pepper laughed to himself at the mere thought of such a team. "Well, I suppose that this isn't the army, is it?" Sergeant Pepper stroked his flowing white moustache thoughtfully. "They may be just what we need, though. Very well - send them in."

The three newest members of the Agency stood before him shortly; indeed, they certainly were not the typical recruits that he had come to expect. No - they were far different...and because of that, of great use to the Agency.

"Of course, all three of you have had run-ins with the supernatural - which is how you came to be here today. After reading through your dossiers -" he motioned his hand towards a group of folders on his table "- I have decided to formulate a team out of the three of you. It would seem as if none of you can currently 'fit' into society, or perhaps, any other team we have at the Agency. That is why you will work together - as the newly formed Lonely Hearts Club."

"For your first assignment, I would like you to investigate the death of Sir David Thornton - he was the mayor of Bradbury, a small village located in Dartmoor, the county of Devon. The circumstances of his death seem rather suspicious - he was found dead in his room with no sign of forcible entry, and a look of terror upon his face. The Agency suspects that FESTA was involved; nothing more is known, however. You will take a train to Bradbury to learn more, and if possible, thwart any of FESTA's plans. I have provided each of you with a watch communicator which I can use to contact you at any time. Good luck, and God bless."

-------------------------------------------------------

The Lonely Hearts Club is sitting in a compartment on the train to Bradbury - the other compartments are empty save for one young couple returning from London, and an old man. Things are fairly monotonous - there is nothing to see outside the window except for the endless greys of the rocky, desolate moors. Half an hour into the ride, however...that's when things get interesting. The train grinds to a screeching halt, and the lights are cut. There is a blood-curdling scream from one of the other compartments - after which there is no sound but the dropping of the rain against the train's window. The members of the Lonely Hearts Club look at each other...what do they do?

Awakening to the sound of screams was a first for Sammy and, she thought to herself, probably not the last.

She glanced around the compartment, quickly deciding against using the door. Going over to the window and opening it, taking a look outside to see what's stopped the train...

(is this acceptable?)

(that's perfect!)

Looking outside, Sammy is somewhat bewildered to find that there's nothing physically stopping the train from moving - the tracks look clear. However, out of the corner of her eye, she sees what seems to be a lone man and a large creature of some sort walking by his side - by the time she turns her head for a closer look, both have disappeared. Sammy can't quite shake the feeling that what she had just seen wasn't quite natural...

(edit/note: to prevent this from being too one-sided or anything, you can only post once until everyone else playing has posted - i.e. until all three post, nobody can post again. If this doesn't make sense gameplay wise/there's a better way of handling it, please let me know...)

Roland puts his book aside and sands up. He takes his sword cane from the baggage net above him in his left hand with the other hand rests on the hilt.

"You two, whatever your names are, look from where those screams came from. See that you take some bandages with you, somebody might be injured," he said with a clear voice and added with a sigh. "If it's not already too late. I will look for the engine-driver. Damn you, Pepper - you and your reconnaissance!"

He looked for a shield that shows the direction for the locomotive and runs through the appropiate door.

(note: sorry for so many out of game speeches, but I'd just like to say that this game will be quite free-form; feel free to use whatever skills you want whenever, or invoke your bonuses/flaws whenever you want. It can be as ridiculous/useless/useful as you want, but you can invoke them how you want. If you do, just roll yourself, and based on your success/failure, go from there. I don't have the plot set in stone, and it's up to everyone to make up the story...as long as you aren't too ridiculous, don't worry about overstepping boundaries - so have fun)
