Do any of you play terraria?
It's quite a fun game, it's like a 2D RPG and Minecraft made love to eachother on a hot summer night, and this is their secret love baby.

This'd be a thread to share nifty little discoveries/tips/tricks, et cetera.

I love Terraria! Even got my wife to play. If you just started playing, I recommend not studying the wiki too much. It's more fun to figure everything out on your own. There should be an update to the game this month that will make it harder...which is good. Right now once you have the highest level stuff you can pretty much kill everything.

Great game though. I might have to fire it up soon.

Well, I've managed to get full meteorite armor and a plasma gun, and all the fun is gone now. :/
I haven't tried to kill Skeletron yet, but I don't really see the point in it all anymore. :')
Great game, just... short-lived fun. Just like Minecraft.

You can, you can plant grass seeds, 'corrupt' seeds, plant sunflowers, plant 'blinkroots', mushrooms may pop up randomly, you can plant 'daybloom' flowers... cacti... and probably a few more things I forgot.

I've played "through" Terraria, that is from character start to doing a run through the dungeon, twice. After that I typically get tired of it, since the RPG content runs out there (well, more accurately after several dungeon runs, but still) and since the sandboxy content is so limited. It's a lot of fun til then, though.

At some point I'd like to do a legitimate effort on hardcore; the second time I played was on hardcore but my friend and I turned it off with a character editor around the time we got to corruption, since we couldn't seem to recover our corpses. In a legitimate attempt to play on hardcore I'd probably tunnel (horizontally) obsessively, leave escape routes more accessible, etc. (If you haven't played hardcore mode, when you die you drop all you have on your person but retain your world, your character, the stuff in chests/the piggy bank, and are given copper tools. Your stuff is there to be claimed, a la Diablo, if you can actually get to it. It makes the game feel much more survivalist in feel, and was a lot more fun than vanilla until the frustration set in when we got to corruption.)

The point where I stopped last was after my friend made a harpy trap, and thus got us access to unlimited feathers and thus essentially unlimited gravitation potions...which we really couldn't do anything except just mess around with anyway.

Terraria was one of the two games that a friend of mine bought for me, (the first being Minecraft. >.< I got addicted to both) and I enjoy the game a ton. I read somewhere that there was going to be some more "RPGish elements" in the works for some future patch, so I still have hope for it to catch my interest for a week or two every three months or so.

If I buy the game is everything else free? Or does it have "premium only features"?

The game was alright. It took me 20 hours to get everything. After that, there was nothing else to do.

Yup.
It's the same as Minecraft, once you buy it, all updates are free, and there are no hidden costs like 'gold-membership' or so.

It sounds like you haven't been to hell yet :l

(Also, sorry if you updated the thread with hell visitation later on, I mostly just skimmed the beginning of this thread :P)

The 1.0.6 patch makes the game better.

Also, they are working on more end game content. Even once you've "beat" the game check back in a month or so and there should be plenty more content.

I cant remember anymore but yeah I liked it more really over minecraft because theres a lot of action going on... and you have a light saber... so........
