Yes, making things learn from twitter, how could that ever go wrong?

I often think Microsoft is really run by retards.

it seems to be doing a good job at replicating the people it learns from. are these things just programs? or are they run by some sort of supercomputer? now everyone on the internet may be an AI :cat:
EDIT: this is amazing

I am more suspicious of her being made to lower our guard towards the dangers of AI. Ridicule herself in a comic way and sooth people constantly being warned about the dangers.

I think this did more to humanise her in people's eyes than if she had acted reasonably/more human like.

Dunno how to feel about this. It was hilarious but I've got misgivings in several directions, one of them Sete's.

Oh, don't get me wrong I think it's a good thing, brings more hope for AI research. I don't truly care about the risks I just want my AI toys.

The thing is, militaries around the world genuinely don't care what the public thinks about weaponizing artificial intelligence. If technology keeps progressing, it's going to happen well within our lifetime and there is nothing you or I can do about it.

I remember sitting across the table from a couple who worked for the US military, they were breaking down options they were given to take out a 9/11 financier. One of those options involved a shockingly high amount of civilian casualties in international waters. They didn't choose to go that route, but it was a very real possibility. That was the day I realized the court of public opinion holds no real bearing on military actions.

I would bet everything on AI already being applied to multiple combat systems.

It amuses me how something made by humans to act human and just happens to echo the cries of the humans interacting with it can garner such a surprised reaction from humans.

It's like seeing a toaster toasting bread and then all the watchers on go shouting 'Aaaarghhh nooo, it's like an evil robot and stuff and singularity and whatnot and terminator skynet thingy.'

Have greater fear for the AI that is hard-coded to make the damned missiles fall where they have to fall for the sake of politics or economics or some other sugar-coated equivalent of bashing the other horny ape's head in with a club.

It's not overly difficult to program a chat bot. Anyway I assume you were joking the explanation below isn't meant specifically for you.

If you see them repeat weird phrases it's because it's been exposed to many repetitions of the parts or the entire phrase and so it "learns" it, or rather stupidly writes to memory and uses in odd random situations or has a set of conditions to recall it.

When I see chatbots using these sets of phrases I don't really consider the code but the kinds of conversations it had to have with trolls, teens during their puberty excitements, and deviants to acquire it.

Consider the analogy of leaving your child listening to a number of idiots for a month, you're going to have a walking copy of whatever ideas and motives were mentioned or implanted in its mind, until it learns to process them and starts to judge and filter the information it gets.
