It seems so much easier to talk online. In any form, forum/chat, it is many times easier to say what I want to. Is this true for anyone else here?

It's just as easy for me to talk on line as it is in person. That being said, there are some ways in which I am better or worse off and online. I don't view either as different to be honest, never have. It's seems illogical to in my opinion. One of the biggest things is refusal to use the veil of amonimity to allow myself to be socially devient.

The incredibly sad fact is - online or not, but I cannot step over the shyness, perhaps only the level of shy becomes slightly lower as I my mouth suddenly does not drop shut.

I agree with IndigoSensor. I talk just as easily in person as I do online; the only difference is that I generally don't prefer to talk to people face-to-face, unless they are on the same intellectual level as me.

Generally I feel more content talking online, however I'm never fully happy with how I type as I'm a Man of few words as is my thought process. So when I do use words, I feel a bit self-conscious.

My mind is the best place for me to talk, but after that talking online is a distant second. I have enough time to take my mind-speak and form it into coherent sentences, and my tongue doesn't have any opportunity to betray me by spouting nonsense while I think.

i'm probably more eloquent and better at articulating my thoughts online, but i'll always prefer face-to-face contact. there's just so many nuances of the body that are IMPORTANT, dammit, when it comes to communication, that are simply lost when you enter a textual medium. it's just... not as interesting, and much more prone to misunderstandings.

I think it the other way around. Here you can make use of pictures, videos or smilies to give a clear understanding of what you think, whilst out there in the world you only have petty words and halfhearted facial expressions at your disposal.

I find it somewhat easier to communicate in text, but I still feel like my brain is stuttering when I attempt. My writing doesn't flow as freely as it used to, doesn't come as naturally. I get stuck in the middle of sentences and can't for the life of me think of how to finish it.

It gives me time to think of how to express myself, but sometimes my minds just rushes off, leaving me behind.

i can agree with this if we're talking strictly of passing on information, but i'm talking from a more social dynamic. smilies don't portray nearly the amount of emotion that an actual un-fakeable facial expression does, and it's much easier for a smily or whatever to be misinterpreted as something else.

I'm thinking of the variety of future high-tech online interactions...

Writing is fine interaction, but I believe the definition of its purpose is deftly embedded in journaling and other far-structured conducts. This style is not very affectionate towards the "free inclination". Conversely, personal conversations are reckless and open with an addition of non-verbal communication.

I find that other people are far more worried about people judging me than I am. I don't care how people think of me, so long as it's true. Which makes being in the Army difficult, because I actually have to put effort into not offending people. It's part of the job.
