Does anyone else have a problem with incessant laughing? It's like once a jokes going, I'll keep riding on it as long as I think of something clever to add. I don't even care if it's funny to other people, as long as it gives me a laugh. When the joke dies down with everyone else, I have a hard time settling down. I either can't stop laughing, or I try to suppress it- which ends up making me laugh even more because everyone around me is already calm and cool.

I can second that motion.

I am the one in the group that will add layers to the joke to the point of touching and possibly stepping over the line. Either I think something is funnier than the group or they just end up thinking Im weird, dark, and twisted.

Im pretty sure THC enhances this effect.

I've had this problem in the past. Saturday Night Live has has this problem since before 1998 :p

I think everyone take a joke to far some times. SNL does it several times a week.

Just learn to read your crowd a bit better. If SNL was actually live it might be able to follow this advice.

It just take some practice. At least I didn't say banana :cthulhu:

I like to take jokes just far enough to make the other person uncomfortable. Though now that I think about it most people's jokes make me uncomfortable, but for an entirely different reason.

i dno my jokes have always been met mostly with indifference, save for some notable exceptions. humor is a highly internal affair to me. i like to yank my neural circuits in a pleasurable way, but i'm not too concerned with communication - beyond enjoying approval as ii dno my jokes have always been met mostly with indifference, save for some notable exceptions. humor is a highly internal affair to me. i like to yank my neural circuits in a pleasurable way, but i'm not too concerned with communication - beyond enjoying approval as i happen to earn it, i never pursue it in a diligent manner.occasionally happen to earn it, i never pursue it in a diligent manner.

if i'm taking a joke too far, i don't strike myself as daring. more like dorky and slow-witted.

Hmm, joining in with a joke is not really my thing... I am usually laughing because of the way the joke twists in my mind. I often make bad jokes just to see if I can get a laugh IRL. One of my friends has started to pick up on this. We were previously talking about some bad behavior and then the conversation changed. My friend was going to be going to a christian school thing or other and I said "Yeah those christians are never up to any good." and he sounded like he didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He ended up saying something like "Oh [painfully obvious he was uncomfortable], your funny man."

Yeah, conservative christians are the best people to pull that kind of stuff on.

Are you stressed out right now?
INTPs apparently laugh at everything when they're stressed.
I know I couldn't stop myself, every time I had to see my incompetent Psychiatrist. :ahh:

My current location is classified.
I love how Jennywocky posted Weird Al. Such an influential musician. But my dark sense of humour can sometimes scare the sensitive. My INTJ brother gets to a point in the day when he'll laugh at anything, no matter how strange, stupid, or twisted.

As far as the timing, I don't take jokes too far at all. But, my sense of humor is so bizarre and dark that I've had to learn to keep most of my jokes to myself, and just settle for randomly bursting into laughter. It freaks people out, of course, but it's better for people to wonder if I'm demented than for them to know I am.

Yeah, and it always happens at inappropriate times, especially when someones mad at me I just can't keep a straight face...
