Define what you think success means.

When you can die peacefully with no bitterness or sense of loss. Perhaps that is rare. It depends on individual attitude and beliefs.

Could I be more vague? Yes, probably.

Same thing really. :D

I don't know what success means to me. I'm starting to think it means being left alone long enough to know my own mind.

I feel the same way but I wonder if is the opposite for extraverts.

Enough wealth to acquire immortality and the power to keep it.

Everything else is a sandcastle.

Material acquisition, being generally well-liked, inhabiting a high position in society.

Needless to say, I don't want success and, furthermore, I'd like to use another word for what I want. Maybe 'self-realization', though I'm assuming here that I can encapsulate my will in a word.

Honestly, it's unlikely I can. People rarely have an all-embracing desire. They have a bunch of tiny desires and when asked to make sense of their legion of desires they'll cite something like 'success' or 'fulfillment' or 'self-knowledge'. The better to understand ourselves with.

Success is having everything the individual wants/completing want they want to achieve. Or having/being/achieving everything that is important to them.

If money isn't important to them then money isn't success. It may be useful and fit into the first (aka total success) statement but assuming the second is still a level of success then it's not required. Same with relationships or immortality or power. It's a very individual thing as shown in this thread/what it is marketed to be in the world.

Success is defined by the completion of a goal.

That feeling when you wake up in the morning... you're lying in bed on your back, both arms folded up above the shoulders with palms resting under the back of your head.

Total relaxation and contentment, the second before you realise you've just awoken from a dream into the living hell.

I'm intrinsically luminous, mortals. I'm 4ever
There is no success, it is a construct based on an illusory paradigm of positive and negative. It is a delusion. There only is. All else is folly.

The paradigm in itself is a construct based on the language. You can define success and it is not illusory when you find it applicable in your life. It needn't be necessarily based on the idea of positive and negative. It could be based on the idea of completion, or something entirely different, depending on the particular instance.
lol, that is not success
Whatever goes for you.

Success is having completed most of the list of things you wanted to achieve and can sincerely tell your loved ones that I've done it correctly and don't want to change anything before you perish.
