What is the process called:

When you stub your toe,
do you exaggerate the pain and think about it constantly afterwards?
or
do you stub it, say aww shit real quick and than just walk away like nothing happened physically and emotionally, and I guess consciencely?

and
do you notice when you are consciencly aware of the pain and the more you focus the worse the injury gets.
while when you walk away completely and move on forgetting it was there entirely, you would barely notice a difference.

I say "ouch" reflexively, regardless whether I'm in pain or not.

I prefer that no one know I was clumsy.

So if it is extremely painful, I grab my foot and hop up and down for a while, naturally. But if it is not debilitating, then no one else needs to know it happened.

Focusing on pain or ignoring it has no effect. I mostly ignore it. Worrying about pain (Did I break it? Will it get infected?) makes it much worse.

I scream out "MOTHERFUCKER", and do that I'm-gonna-punch-something act except you don't actually punch anything 'cause then you'd have a busted fist or an upset girlfriend.

If something hurts, I'm gonna be aware of the pain, but I'll deal with it quietly after the initial shock wears off. I call this process, "not being a whiny bitch".

Also, oddly, the more exposure to pain you have, the greater pain you will feel in future incidents. You can cope up to a point with cognitive methods, but eventually the increased sensitivity to pain will override that.

Veh. Not telling.
Hrm.

I would, firstly, swear quickly.
Then, depending on the intensity of the pain, I would stand there for however many seconds in "comprehension".

Same as Nocturne, it's almost as if I need a few seconds to decide it doesn't hurt that bad.

My friends think I'm a robot because I don't even react, I don't find stubbing my toe to be that bad?

I'm a soulless monster :(

In private I blame little bastards aka toes, of course. Call them some names, like 'boody toes' which they factually are sometimes. I never take responsibility personally, so I guess it is as well I'm a leader only to my toes.

In public I pretend I wasn't there. I stub a toe , but I play amnesia. It saves my ego.

@kamari rised

Were you asking for the name of something or for our opinions when we stub or toes? I thought the former but the replies lean towards the latter. I'm not sure what to reply with.
