I dislike hypocritical "hero" characters and some other delusional character types more than the insane and stupid ruler archetype.

Meh, it's not the insanity, delusional nature, brutality, or stupidity that makes the archetype so repulsive. It's the fact that they also usually wield absolute power. No amount of wile, intelligence, rationalization, or experience will save you in the face of such reckless power once you've stumbled across its path. You're helpless, hopeless, and completely at its mercy. The more petulant, irrational, and powerful they are, the more easily hated.

Hypocritical/delusional heroes are more in line with everyday assholes. You can ignore, dismiss, or otherwise avoid an asshole comparatively easier.
