[Creeping Death]

This sphere will have 4 Levels.

Level one is the outermost layer, the crust if you will. In this level is included everything that a species is physically capable of with just their body. You, naked.

Level two is what a species can accomplish with all current technological advancements. Tools. Going to the moon, performing brain surgery, bombing ISIS with a drone.

Level three is possibilities that have yet to be achieved. Things that do not violate any of the laws of physics but that we haven't achieved. Alcubierre Drive, Dyson Sphere, and probably an unimaginably large list of other things.

Level four, the core. Anything that is impossible to achieve according to our current understanding of physical laws.



The first two layers can grow, layer one through evolution and layer two through invention and discovery. Level three can decrease in size, but probably not noticeably. Level four will always remain the same size.

Possibilities are finite, impossibilities are infinite therefore the outermost layer should be the expanse around the sphere and the core physical abilities of the species should be its core, as it grows the two middle layers grow.

Humans will grow to become transhumans and post-humans and they'll be more capable and have more potential than the mere apes that learned how to walk and talk.

I think it also works the way it is in OP, like penetrating into the core of possibility. Mathematically, infinity can be expressed through a finite space.

e.g. how many numbers are between 0 and 1? and the set of all numbers 1/n where n is an integer (1, 2, 3...) has an increasing number of values in a decreasing amount of space as n increases. So the visualisation could be seen in a similar fashion, paralleling 1/n, with the outer layer represented by the value of 1/1 = 1, and the core being the value 0, which can never be reached, and the numbers get more and more dense close to the core.

But "the core" and the "impossible" sound so cool, and "physically capable" and "the crust" sound less cool. Ergo it is correctly written QED.

I don't think it's inside out but I can see why some say it is.

On the Kardashev scale a civilisation moves up in type the larger the realm they control, signifying starting from the core and moving outward. However, one response to the scale mentioned a civilisation advancing based on how small of things they could manipulate, like elementary particles. From this point of view it seems the levels are placed correctly in the sphere, advancing inward.
