hey you crazy kids!

I'm hosting a tenuously space-related party for my boyfriend this weekend, and I'm putting together a playlist of "space" music. what's some of your favorite space-themed music? it can be thematic/lyrical content, spacey sounds, etc.

specifically, I need more IDM (ugh) music.

Why Starman by David Bowie isn't on that list already is beyond me.

The album Travelers Through Space & Time by The Apples in Stereo was created as a "space opera" and it's also a pretty dance-y synthpop type of sound, so I'm sure you could find something there which appeals. Actually a decent amount of their stuff is space-y.

I think Broken Bells' album After the Disco was going for a "spaceman" type theme, at least in part.

Maybe the Star Power Suite (4 songs) from Foxygen's last album ...And Star Power has what you're looking for. Also a few other tracks on that album that talk about "the chinese on the moon, letting their dogs die in space" or just yell "UFOs!" at random times.
