Searched for a general soundtrack thread, and didn't come across one.

My staples are usually Clint Mansell (Moon, The Fountain, World Traveler, etc.) or Hans Zimmer (Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, Gladiator, etc.), but when I need something with a little more umph, I go for Don Davis/Juno Reactor/Matrix tracks, or Marilyn Manson's Resident Evil tracks. Also got hooked on Rob Dougan after discovering him through the Matrix soundtrack.

Matrix Trilogy

Re: The Matrix, 'Clubbed to Death' or GTFO.

As for my own picks... honestly, that'd require me to have a memory, which I don't. I'm like an etch a sketch; I shake my head at the end of the day and everything is gone.

Don Davis' work on the Matrix trilogy was one of the highlights of the film series, considering how the quality of the story/script dipped by the last film. Mansell (The Fountain soundtrack rocks, but other stuff by him too) and Zimmer are pretty great at what they do (Zimmer is always stretching himself, he's kind of fearless).

I tend to drift towards more classical stuff, like Desplat's "The Danish Girl" or Velazquez' "A Monster Calls" from recent films, as far as scores go.

The song selection for "Atomic Blonde" was pretty good -- I honestly don't listen to much Marilyn Manson (although I plan to do more of that, since they included Manson's "Stigmata" which I thought was cool-fun).

I like Jon Brion's work on Charlie Kaufman films, Alan Silvestri's been another mainstay for more prominent films (I like his Contact soundtrack), Navarrete's Pan's Labyrinth music, the "Sixth Sense" soundtrack by Howard. I'll have to think of more.

The Fountain soundtrack is incredible

Philip Glass' sountrack for The Hours is also pretty good.
