The year is 2200. Mankind has spread through the solar system, living on planets and moons alike. Where would you want to live, and why?

If the list is not sufficient, and you have someplace else which is applicable, please state thusly.

Only solar? The place that is both beautiful and unpopular, hopefully earth with a lesser population density or Europa/Titan etc.

We do have sufficient knowledge of bodies in other systems, and even if we have enough information it will be quite some time before full-fledged colonies can be initiated in them.

Orbiting either Venus or Jupiter. I rather like their dynamic predictability. If we have the tech by then, I would like to live along floating sky-cities on top of those planets' violent atmospheres.

P.S. "In orbit around a celestial body" is kind of a bit off since every choice in the poll orbits a celestial body.

Laziness. Celestial body is shorter than a planet or a moon.
Corrected thusly.

As much as I'd like the view of Jupiter filling the sky, the reality of actually living anywhere near the gas giants is slim.

The radiation levels are too lethal.

somewhere with plumbing, preferably terrestrial with a nice view and ample supply of resources and women.

Maintaining relay stations, fixing satellites, living in space and constantly travelling, salvaging space junk, living in a unpressurised ship with few walls to block my view, it looks like a spider built a web on a giant snowflake, all steel struts and cables.

Silly humans and their silly tin cans.

Would you be in a pressurized suit?

I'm assuming part of the question means that we've found a way to protect against that?

(Otherwise, you'd have to say, "I don't want to live on the moon because I'd die of lack of oxygen and from the cold within a few minutes max.")

No, in a hundred and eighty six years I won't be human, I'll probably look like General Grievous but shiny and with even less fleshy bits.

There's other ways of experiencing tactile sensation, people think of robotic bodies being cold and lifeless but in the future that couldn't be further from the truth, an artificial body can have more senses and of a higher fidelity than what we currently experience. The web like ship goes along with that, aboard it I'll be like a spider sitting on its web, I'll be able to feel/hear everything making the entire ship a visceral extension of my senses, not to mention the onboard suite of electronics.

Furthermore what happens to those silly pressurised tin cans when there's a collision?
The humans onboard suffocate and die or explosively decompress.

If my ship hits something it'll either catch it or get stuck to it, providing me more materials to make my ship bigger and better equipped, eventually my mote of solar dust will become a planet sized hive, and assumedly others will join me.

Feeling butthurt are we?
Derailing a thread just to bitch about your butthurt, real smooth.

But hey maybe it happened because the electrons willed it so, in whatever nonstandard definition of that word you're using?

As for being "pwnd" well let met tell you how this goes, you follow me around derailing threads because your butt hurts, your butt hurtz soo baaaad, and then the mods temp ban you for being disruptive, mmmmkaay?

Meanwhile I mock you while you embarrass yourself and will get away with it, because I was right, but more to the point you are making an ass of yourself and nobody's going to blame me for defending myself from a butthurt asshole.

Yeah c'mon get angry, I'm Al Pacino and you're Keanu Reeves :D

I say the moon. If we tried hard enough we could terraform it. Give it an atmosphere. Then again. It is the alien colony ship that brought life to earth:cthulhu:. But if it's just biodomes and shit, It think I'd visit, but not stay for too long.

It would be kool to see earth and get a different view of the stars.

Also, all the transehumanist talk seems borderline, "When I die and go to heaven" talkish. Just saying:rolleyes:

Yup, earth. Because it will be the most technically advanced. It will be like one of those capitals that is the largest city in the state.

Think I would prefer another Goldilocks planet in another system.

I chose earth because this is actually a beautiful and rare planet with so much diversity, it's enough to melt your brain if you actually take a minute to properly think about it for a second.

It's just a shame we have to spent most of our lives not getting to see it all!
