So, I just had to dig out from under the first snowfall of the season. Half an hour of physical exertion, for what? So that I could play valet, and bring the car around for my dad to drive his gf to work... I think I need to stop volunteering for these types of things.

Anyway, I was just wondering if I'm the only one here who hates snow. Or am I surrounded by snowboarders and skiers here?

I like the sound and smell of snow, but I am absolutely repulsed by slush, the evil and retarded twin brother of snow.

Lol, I think the real issue here is that you're a sucker.

That is a distinct possibility...

Oh, god, and now my dad is trying to say that I got paid for it... he gave me 2 malted chocolate balls when I came in...

I'm not a skier or a snowboarder since those are expensive sports but I do have a lot of experience with snow. I love the stuff! Although it does get a little old if you've had to dig your car out of the snow for the 4th time in a single day. I don't shy away from physical labor either so that's not an issue. It's just cold and you get bone tired if you spent all day shoveling snow.

I need to go visit some snow soon...

Snow? Aren't you lucky. It has reached over 30 degrees Celsius in parts of my house over the last few days.

Cav, you can come and visit us up here in Canada... plenty of snow, and from what I've heard, it stretches pretty near coast-to-coast already... y'know Christmas is coming up when...

Architectonic, can we do a student exchange, or some equivalent??? You can come up here to Canada, and deal with the white stuff, and I'll go down to Australia, and revel in the gorgeous weather...

I like snow. I like the feeling of isolation it brings, and the vast amounts of seemingly abandoned road it brings when the country, inevitably, grinds to a halt having yet again decided it's too cold to do anything.

What I don't like is the way in which places I very much want to be at get closed because snow stopped play. If I'm going to be paying £9000 for a three year education, I'd very much like to receive it.

You know, if there was some possibility that I could get paid enough to live by shoveling snow for people I'd probably do it over my current job. It's Christmas soon as you say and I work retail. I'll take shoveling the snow. Plus I only live a handful of hours away from Canada. I've visited Canada several times. You should worry. I may show up one day and take you up on your offer. :D

I am not a snowboarder or skier. However, I lurve snow! I like to run around in it, slide on the ice, make snowmen, have snowball fights, and otherwise marvel at the whiteness. Also, when it snows, nobody used to pressure me to go outside for "fresh air" (because the air outside is somehow superior to the air inside?), and when I do go outside, nobody else is!

I'd like snow, if it stuck around for about a month. Unfortunately, where I am from, it just accumulates and accumulates and eventually goes from a nice fluffy powder to an icy, painfully sharp coating on everything. Then it doesn't melt, so we can't play lacrosse outdoors until mid-april. And then when it finally does melt, it leaves everything a muddy mess.

It also requires shoveling and makes driving a pain in the ass.

I LOVE snow.
It brings confusion to the authorities, it creates traffic jams, all kinds of infrastructural problems, and it looks pretty! The beautiful fractals in ice crystals... Everything about snow is good. It's soft and fluffy, it's fun. You can do lots of things with it, and when you go inside, home has never felt so cosy and caveman-like.

As an Albertan in Ontario, I was kind of getting freaked out by the lack of snow. My first exam was postponed, and one of my 3 roommates from Alberta said "Grow some balls Ontario."

It's not too cold, everything is quiet. Kind of nice.

Meer means 'more' or 'lake' in Dutch. Or it could be an informal abbreviation of 'Merel' which is a girls' name meaning Blackbird.
Sorry, I just wanted to say that.

Snow is great. It's the coldness that comes with it that isn't. I really like how snow deadens the usual ambient noise. So peaceful. So quiet. So white.

.........Beautiful desolation

I love snow, but it is a novelty here. There was a time when we wouldn't have snow for years, now it is about once or twice a year.

There has already been snow here for a month and a half. I've had it with snow to be honest. I used to ski (snowblades) as there is some pretty good alpine centers nearby. However, after breaking my collarbone the last time, I really didn't feel like doing it anymore. When I was a kid I had much fun playing around with snow though. Making castles, underground passageways and playing "king of the hill" where the object was to be the last man standing on a large heap of snow. Oh, and I also loved frontflipping from high rooftops landing on my back in what felt like a really comfortable mattress.
Also, you gotta love a good snow fight. Making a solid crammed ball of snow hitting someone in the face used to be highly satisfying. Needless to say, the school yard was a dangerous place when the first snowfall came.

I don't see much snow. Occasionally I'll get to see a few flakes, but it never sticks. I'd have to drive way up into the mountains to get any exposure. Currently it's a balmy 25 C outside when it should be winter.

I always did enjoy the snow when I got the chance, it was so silent and peaceful. I wanted to make snow monsters like Calvin, but never got the chance. :slashnew:

OK, I suppose I can agree with this. Undisturbed snow can be absolutely gorgeous, and the quiet that is often associated with snow is nice, too. Once the snow has been disturbed too much, though, there's no going back; it seems the only truly beautiful time where snow is on the ground is during the first snowfall of the year (unless you get a storm that brings in a foot or more.

I despise the cold, and the slush, though. I can very easily do without both.

Cog and EyeSeeCold, ha-ha. No, Cog I didn't suck on the malted chocolate. I'm not much of a sucker when it comes to candy; I much prefer chewing. Unfortunately, that means I don't enjoy jawbreakers to the fullest extent.

I've never had the opportunity..well I've had the opportunity, but I've never been to a place with snow. It sucks, I've been wanting to do so since early childhood, now the magic is gone. :slashnew: (in lieu of sad smiley)

The magic doesn't have to be gone! Use your imagination, forget your surroundings, and go up in childlike euphoria as you roll through the snow! INTPs should be the best at this c:

Snow is uncomfortably wet and cold. Snow gets in the way and has to be moved. Snow covers my car, meaning I have to brush/scrape it off. Snow makes driving orders of magnitude more dangerous and stressful. Snow makes going outside a pain in the ass. Snow melts and causes flooding. Snow gets stuck to my shoes and tracked into the house or my car.

Snow has absolutely no redeeming qualities. I can deal with the subzero Michigan temperatures, but I could go the rest of my life without ever seeing snow again.

Being drunk in the snow at night in an abandoned forest on a clear night and look up at the stars. Let the void fully swallow the mind and think of nothings. That's the closest thing to death I can think of and still the most alive I ever was.

Drunk on starlight.

In the winter you can walk on water. I always liked that.

... you... are my new best friend... let me guess, your ideal temperature is in and around mid-30's (Celsius, that is; about 90F)
