Here is a thread, where if you find a how to do anything practical, you can share it.

How to clean a dusty or dirty standing fan:

Take your fan outside, plug it in, Spray Windex or a mixture of dish soap, vinegar and water on the entire fan, do an initial wipe down with paper towels, then spray the blades again and turn it on and walk away for a minute while it spins the blades clean.
If you do it inside, put a hefty plastic trash bag over the top so the wet aerosol stays confined, best to do it outside.

Take 33 percent cream heat it on a stove fire, then mix in vanilla sugar, with cinnamon and cacao.
Depending on ratio of different ingredients you get different taste.
Thats how I like to make my cacao drink.
But its very good and unhealthy. Healthy only if you burn a lot of calories.

If you ever try kangaroo meat just don't grill or pan fry it unless you intend to have it quite rare, otherwise you'll quickly cook all the fat out of it (what little fat it has) making the meat tough and bland. Instead add it to a stew or curry, you can also stir-fry it if you add the meat last and you're mindful not to overdo it.

It has a strong gamey flavor, like venison I'm told. Some people love it, some hate it, fair warning the strong flavor comes within equally strong smell and I think its the unfamiliarity with that gamey meat smell that puts people off.

---------------------------

If you have an electric rice cooker try adding some nuts on top of your rice before you cook it, I particularly like adding walnuts, you can also add mushrooms if you don't mind the rice absorbing some of that flavor.

It's not good for you but a teaspoon of salt in the water will add a lot to the rice flavor.

You are very welcome.

I think one of the secrets to good deviled eggs is to add a tablespoon of melted hot butter to the cooked yolks before adding the mayo, salt, pepper, and sweet pickle cubes.
And boil them for 7 minutes, and let them sit for the remaining 7 in the hot water, then crack and peel using the back of a spoon under running cold water. A spoon follows the shape of the egg and helps the shell to come off in larger pieces.

One time, since my father is extremely good at physics, we had a huge about 300 kg which is about 500 pound metal canister to load on truck.
Anyway we used metal pipes as levers and as wheels as Egyptians use them.
We put pipes and inclined plane and got it where had to.
It took long time, but for two guys who could not even push the damn thing that was pretty eye opening how easy stuff gets when you know basic physics.
Most people would just look at it and not know what to do.

How to make a roast beef that tastes like prime rib and then how to make a French Dip Sandwich from the leftovers:

(Or, just buy good deli roast beef and make the au jus from store bought beef broth as a short cut, using recipe tips in photos below).

Here is another Au Jus recipe: https://40aprons.com/au-jus-recipe/

And here is just a red lentil carrot soup that looked good:

Commonly known as the NATO phonetic alphabet, the International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet allows people to spell out words and codes in a way anyone can understand over the phone or radio.

Keep this chart by your phone so when you spell your name for appointments, you use this chart to match to a letter so it is heard correctly on the other end:

If you are camping and grilling and need to clean off a grill of someone elses char, you don't need anything but dirt, leaves, sticks and water. Just have some water from a faucet or river nearby, and pick up a handful of wet dirt, leaves and sticks and rub the grill repeatedly with wet dirt, leaves and sticks. Its just like a scouring cleanser. Then rinse off the grate in the water and use hot coals to disinfect it and voila, perfectly clean without anything but nature. Same with many other surfaces, say a picnic bench, you'd be surprised how well dirt and leaves clean surfaces off if you don't have soap and a scrubby. Thats your camping tip for the day.

This is actually how I clean my own grill at home, I don't want to mess around with soap or sinks, it makes a bigger mess of grease.
I just take it to the ground with the hose and leaves and scrub for a few minutes and then let the fire burn off any impurities. Anyway, I love that tip and use it every time.

For guitar players learning to play:

Play ALL basic chords by lifting up one finger
1f447.png

The difference between E major and E minor is just one note!
Which means that the difference between ALL other major and minor chords is the same
1f631.png

But why?
First of all, what is a chord?
It's a combination of specific notes played together.
If you want to play any basic major or minor chord, you just need 3 notes.
An E major chord for example, is created by playing the 3 notes you're fretting (strings 3, 4, and 5).
But what about the other strings???
Well, those are just repeated notes.
When you move the note on the 3rd string one fret towards the headstock, it turns Emajor into Eminor.
Think of it as "minus 1 fret" = minor chord.
Ok, now we have Emajor and Eminor.
What about all the other chords in the diagram?
Here is the trap everyone falls into in the beginning (me included): We get so used to using the word "CHORD" that we think it's immovable.
That it only happens in one place.
But if you just change that word for chord "SHAPES" everything becomes easier to understand.
"Shapes" that create "chords".
Think of it this way...
What happens to a single note when you move it 1 fret higher?
It becomes another note, right?
Well, if a chord is created by playing several notes together, what will happen if you move all the notes that create that chord 1 fret higher in unison?
Exactly! They become another chord.
You can move any chord "shape" to create all the other chords.
And it's as easy as following the alphabet
1f609.png

In order to strum through all 6 strings, you also have to move the notes on the open strings (those repeated notes, remember?).
If you only move the chord "shape", some notes are left behind.
To move all notes in unison on all 6 strings, you can place your index behind the "chord shape" you're moving.
Your index follows the chord shape around, like it was a movable nut, creating a BARRE CHORD.
Barre (index) / Chord (chord shape)
Now, lifting up one finger, you can play ANY basic major or minor chord.
Pretty cool, right?
Happy playing!

To repair a small roof leak, you can buy roof tar or roof asphalt cement and apply it, but do NOT use flex seal. It doesn't last and it ruins the roof. Better yet, watch this video on how to replace a few shingles, it is far better to simply replace shingles than to apply a sealant or tar and it looks better. Good how to video:

How to Jump start a car: (ok, I am showing a little bit of ISTP female here, but I'm 65/35 Intuitive/Sensor).

Ideally you have an auto mechanic near the auto parts place where you buy the new battery. If you call around to find one that will immediately install the new battery, it helps. Best to do this early morning on a week day.
Before you begin, pack a lunch and a book in the car with your purse or wallet and a copy of the original battery receipt (verify the date purchased and notice if you are still under warranty or not).

You will drive straight to a mechanic shop that puts the battery in after purchasing it and you will not turn the engine off after it is started and leave the car running where ever you go until you get to the mechanic shop.

Get your jumper cables out and do the following - best with two people:

Instructions in case anyone needs to use jumper cables to start a dead battery:
Email these instructions to yourself and file it in an email folder marked jumper cables:

With both car engines OFF and no keys in ignition, begin on the car with the dead battery.
Lay the jumper cables on the ground and spread out the clamps so that all four clamps are NOT in contact with each other.

Clip a red cable clamp carefully to the positive terminal of the dead battery moving the clamp around until it has a firm clamp and you are sure it won't pop off of the positive terminal. Next put the black clamp on the negative terminal of same dead battery.

(Make sure the remaining clamps are still not touching).
Now pick up each remaining clamp off the ground, putting one in each hand.
Clamp the red cable clamp to the positive terminal of the donor car, and finally the black to negative of the donor car ensure they have a good connection and won't pop off the terminals.

Now turn on the donor car engine and run it for one or two minutes. Now you can attempt to start the dead battery car.

When the car starts, leave it running and begin to remove the clamps as follows.
Start with the NEGATIVE Black cable on the donor car and remove it, then go to the donee car and remove the black cable.

Go back to the donor car and remove the red clamp and to the other car and remove the red clamp
(It helps if you have two people doing this, one does both blacks the other does both reds) then lay them on the ground.
Close the hoods. Immediately drive directly to the auto parts place with your old battery receipt to exchange it or simply buy a new battery. Leave the engine running the whole time until you arrive at the mechanic shop with the new battery. Most auto parts places, (I use Napa Auto parts) will give you a discount for turning in the dead battery but this only works if the auto parts place can help you remove it and install the new one). Bring the battery receipt of the old battery with you so you can check its purchase date and determine if you are due a free battery still under warranty.

If auto part shop can't remove and install the new one, ideally you have an auto mechanic nearby that will be available to immediately install the new battery. Best done on a week day early. Use mapquest or google maps to locate nearby shops.

How to make an AWESOME meatloaf:

I LOVE this Emerils Meatloaf recipe and I tweaked it a bit so its even better by adding sriracha and browning veggies and adding a bit more brown sugar to the topping and making it larger.

For the topping, use a small bowl and combine one teaspoons of Sriracha, 1/3 c ketchup and 1/3 cup brown sugar.
Add a little to the meat mixture (tablespoon or so, and save the rest for the meatloaf topping.
Use either 2 lbs ground beef or ground turkey - both are great.

I like to brown the diced veggies in cast iron with butter and oil, then add 1 diced carrot also, rather than use them raw.

I use an extra large meatloaf pan so 2 lbs of meat is essential.

This is spicy but so good and its hard to find the recipe online now.

Emerils Turkey OR Hamburger Meatloaf

2 lbs of lean ground turkey OR 2 lbs of ground beef

Servings: 6

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds ground turkey or beef (I use 2 lbs because it gets eaten fast and I like a it formed into a large mounded shape).

1/2 cup chopped yellow onion (I use a whole sweet vidalia onion chopped)

1/2 cup plain bread crumbs (I use panko or progresso bread crumbs, and don't measure, just estimate it).

1/4 cup chopped celery (I use one BIG celery rib diced).

1/4 cup chopped red or green bell pepper (one half red bell, or whatever you have diced).

1 large egg

1/4 cup ketchup (eyeball it, don't need perfection).

2 teaspoons minced garlic (or 3 or 4 if you like garlic).

2 teaspoons Baby Bam, recipe follows (I use emerils essence which has a kick and quite spicy).

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions

Make sure the oven rack is in the center position and preheat the oven to 375 degrees F then turn it down to 350 when ready.

Wash your hands and place the turkey or beef in a large mixing bowl. Add the onion, bread crumbs, celery, bell pepper, egg, 1/3 cup ketchup, Garlic, Emerils Essence (recipe below), Salt, and Ground Pepper, and mix with your hands until the ingredients are well incorporated.

Transfer the meat mixture to a 2-pound loaf pan and use your hands to form it into a loaf shape (mounded up in middle).
Wash your hands.

In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup ketchup, 1/3 cup brown sugar, and a teaspoon of Sriracha with a large spoon, then spoon it over the meatloaf top covering entire surface with the back of a spoon.

Bake at 350 for 1 hour ten minutes or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center reaches 165 degrees F, about 50 minutes to one hour and ten minutes depending on size of loaf pan.

Using oven mitts or pot holders, remove the loaf from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

To make Emerils Essence or Baby Bam Seasoning: (Definitely add the cayenne!).

I think this is Baby Bam which is a little less spicy. I just use emerils essence instead.
Here's something to season your foods, like the grown-ups do with Emeril's Original Essence. Add another dimension by sprinkling it into everything, from soups and sauces to pizza and hamburger patties. You fearless bammers out there can kick this up a notch by adding cayenne, to taste. (I'd start with about 1/4 teaspoon, and then take it from there.)

3 tablespoons paprika

2 tablespoons salt

2 tablespoons dried parsley

2 teaspoons onion powder

2 teaspoons garlic powder

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon celery salt

Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir well to combine with a wooden spoon.

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

Yield: about 3/4 cup

Number of Servings: 6

I like this USA loaf pan with a lift out and drain which you then take out and let drain of the meatloaf oil at the end, leaving you with an amazing meatloaf for sandwiches or to serve with mashed potato. Its a 2 lb pan:

I'm sure you can!

Just print some recipes from www.foodnetwork.com and especially look for Emeril, Ina Garten or The Pioneer Woman, all three have wonderful recipes.

There is an easy Emeril cookbook called Emeril 20-40-60: Fresh Food Fast - which has some good quick recipes to try:

Something to try for Fall, is roasted vegetables. Once you shop for the ingredients, you can try it. Get a baking sheet, and some apples and Fall vegetables, cut an Acorn Squash in half, take the seeds out, rub butter salt and pepper inside, then turn them upside down on a baking sheet, slice a green apple into quarters and remove seeds and put on same baking tray with quartered onions, sweet potato, whole garlic with skin on, potato, all quartered, skins on are fine, then add some dabs of butter and a little oil poured over everything with salt and pepper and foil over the top and roast for an hour and a half at 350 (use a timer to help you remember). When warm and you can handle, remove the skins and put it all into a large bowl, squeeze out the garlic from its skin. Use for dinner for the next few nights with whichever meats you have with it.
The apples and onions are EXCELLENT as prevention for colds, flus and allergies in Fall because they have Quercetin in them.

Raw is even better so a raw apple for example will help you stave off colds and flus:

Quercetin:

Here is Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman) recipe for Salisbury steak, (its hamburger, not steak) which is AWESOME. I would get a lot more hamburger than she says, and freeze the extra patties to take out later, because its so good you will eat them all immediately.

Here is Ina Gartens Lemon Yogurt Pound Cake:

And if you want to try some delicious fried chicken breast slices, get boneless chicken breast, buttermilk, jalapeno, green onion, cayenne pepper, flour, garlic powder or fresh garlic, and poultry seasoning, peanut oil and ziplock gallon bags.
Slice boneless breast into 3/4 inch sized slices and add to the ziplock gallon bag. Pour some buttermilk into the bag of chicken just to barely cover the chicken. Add half of a diced jalapeno, three diced green onion stalks, 3 cloves of fresh garlic diced. Seal the bag and mix everything around, then let sit in fridge for a few hours. Put 1/2 inch of peanut or olive oil in your cast iron pan, and heat it.

In large bowl, add two cups of flour, a tablespoon of garlic powder, a teaspoon poultry seasoning, 1/2 tsp cayenne, salt and pepper and combine together.

From the ziplock bag, take one piece of marinated breast at a time and quickly coat in the flour spice mix, then put on a plate and when all the chicken is coated in flour, carefully lower chicken pieces one at a time into pan with about 1/2 inch of hot peanut or olive oil. Fry for 8 minutes flip with a fork and fry another eight minutes. (Use your judgement to test when done and fry more or less if needed- slices should be 1/2 - 3/4 inch thick and cook quickly and chicken should be white inside with no pink). Remove chicken to a new platter and test slice the thickest to make sure its cooked inside. You can look for bulk boneless chicken breast on sale and freeze sets of two breasts in foil inside gallon ziplocks to take out of freezer on another day.

Updated method of boiling eggs so that they peel easily:
Use a lot more water than you think you should and a fairly large pot. Let (2 or 3 quarts of water) come to a full boil before you carefully lower up to six eggs into the water using a slotted spoon or vegetable steamer. Boil for eight minutes. Immediately run cold running water over the eggs after eight minutes. Then crack and peel under running water or peel UNDER water in the pan by hand or let a spoon follow the contour of the egg shell to lift it off.

Melt a tablespoon of butter to add to the six egg yolks along with mayo, a tiny bit of salt and pepper, and a tiny bit of pickle relish before stuffing deviled eggs. Try a little sriracha in one to see if you like it.

Eight minutes results in a slightly orange center that is soft and delicious, so if you prefer it to be more of a yellow center, just add another minute or two, ten minutes of boiling instead of eight.
