I've often thought of myself as having an odd sense of humor. Most of the time recently, I've been attempting to suppress this trait in front of others. Has anyone here done this? I feel like the odd man out, perpetually bored and dissatisfied. Humor is a double-edged sword for me, on the one hand it keeps me sane, on the other it is becoming more warped because I have no one to share my particular brand of humor with--no one to keep it in check, if that makes sense.

Are you saying most people laugh at cheesy stuff just to be polite and/or just to be laughing at something? Seems to be a yearn for belonging type thing.

What kind of humor do you find funny? Prototypical for INTPs is dark, sarcastic humor of clever, hidden meanings (with lots of puns). If so, then avoid people. :D It's what I do. It's not so bad; we can lurk on weird forums full of even weirder people.

Difficult to describe, but it is along the lines of dark, ironic humor, of the cheap variety.

Sure, I laughed. I don't know, the disconnect with the average person's humor is a bit more complicated than that. As in, I'm not sure why the disconnect exists to begin with.

Such a peculiar inquiry. Allow me to respond.

Nay. I don't suppress my humor in front of others. Seems rather counter-productive to amassing an audience. Which I believe is necessary for a choicely made joke. Timing and delivery mean everything, and sometimes timing means timing it to come out in front of people, and if you really want to get crazy, finding the right time in a conversation to drop the joke.

Lol, people don't always get my humor. Brush it off and move on. The dead horse no longer feels sensation. Put the stick down.

Perhaps you need perspective. I haven't any to offer you, but I hear it solves some problems if used correctly. Too cumbersome for my tastes.

People simply don't get you humor or they need a few weeks more. Buy yourself a mirror.

I change my jokes based on my group. I don't make many jokes but when I do it's perfectly timed.

Just takes a while to work out how quick the group is and how obsucre I can go.
